Yeah, it was funny- going into OT Collinsworth was yucking it up and saying he loved the NFL overtime rules, and that it was up to the team that lost the flip's defense to step up and stop the winning team.  Then of course Pittsburgh wins the toss, marches down and wins in four minutes.  lolz.

Not really. The Titans lost that game. They left 6 points on the field, and it's not like their defense isn't capable.

Had they made just one of the two field goals missed, they would've won the game.

I don't think it's fair to blame NFL policy when another team clearly didn't execute.

That's your argument for why it got to OT to begin with.  Then again, Ward possibly could have scored at the end of the 4th quarter and those two fgs wouldn't have been enough.

No, this is about the dumbness of overtime itself.  And it is dumb.  I'm not sure the college rules are the answer, but the NFL rules are basically "whoever wins the coin flip wins, lol" and THAT is certainly dumb.

That's not how it works out, though. I'm pretty sure the percentage is close to even.

I'm not a fan of the system either, but just pointing that out.

Edit: I'll double check that now and I'll probably be totally wrong.

So what you're saying is that, either way, the Steelers should have won! :P

I really don't think it's that unfair. Am I to believe that the defense gets a total pass in OT when the offense scores?

He was actually injured pretty badly, so much so that the Jets might be in hot water with the league for not listing him on the injury report. I expect that to become next week's "drama".

"The Curse" isn't just about injury, which Favre suffered, but total dropoff in performance. Which was definitely true in that case.

Ray Lewis was the best survivor of "The Curse" - he missed only one game, had a minor drop off in performance, but they didn't even make the playoffs after vying for the AFC North division title the previous season.

I don't think anyone has had a good year when they've been on the cover.

Favre had one good year in 2007 in between 3 pretty mediocre years, tho.  So that last season in Green Bay is really the aberration in my opinion.  I mean, look at these stats:

Season     Team     G           QBRat   Comp   Att   Pct   Yds   Y/G   Y/A   TD   Int
2005-06   Green Bay   16       70.9            372  607   61.3   3881   242.6     6.4   20    29
2006-07   Green Bay   16       72.7            343   613   56.0   3885   242.8     6.3    18   18
2007-08   Green Bay   16       95.7            356   535   66.5   4155   259.7     7.8    28   15
2008-09   NY Jets   16       81.0            343   522   65.7   3472   217.0     6.7    22   22

Last year's stats start looking even worse when you remember that he threw more than 1/4 of his TDs in one game.  Dude is pretty much done, I'm hoping Brian Uhrlacher murders him this year.

As for Ray Ray, even the curse was scared of him.

I think the fact that he had a torn biceps tendon, and pretty much sunk the Jets (and may now cost them financially or in the draft), merits his inclusion to the "The Curse".

Lewis' curse was that he not only missed a game, but the playoffs entirely. Ravens had their worst run, in terms of personnel and performance, after he took the cover. Also, remember, the following year he went on IR!

Matt Ryan completely missed White on an easy 40+ yard td pass earlier.  Ryan has looked kind of shaky so far, wouldn't expect much from the Falcons' passing attack today.
