It's still the best in the NFC East, even after this game. Obviously the team has coverage issues, but they're pretty good.

The offense is probably the worst I've seen since Spurrier's FUN AND GUN offense took the NFL by storm!

... At any rate, this is pretty bad. Snyder is on the verge of losing his fanbase, and I'm not even confident that getting a bonafide GM will change a lot of people's minds. Some fans are calling FedEx Field - itself - cursed, and the reason for the team's woes.

They let Gregg Williams go, who is the person they should have hired in the first place. I think you need a coach capable of pushing the players, and it'd probably have to be someone like Cowher.

If it's a non-capped year, they need to dump everyone off the roster except most of the defense, Santana Moss and Chris Cooley. I'm talking everyone. Spend all draft picks on the offensive line, and pray a "game manager"-type quarterback (Kyle Orton) hits the market and can tend to the franchise while developing an answer for the position.

Everyone should veto Phoenix Dark's trade for Maurice Jones Drew. That's absurd.

... a QB that's not even in the Top 10 for one of the best RBs in fantasy football? That's insane.

Warner's the 16th ranked QB right now, and Jones-Drew is the 2nd ranked RB.

Obstructionist bastards

seemed like he was in need of a QB this so took a shot in the dark. Plus, my normal "stock up with whoever is playing the Lions" plan won't work this week since St. Louis sucks and should lose, so I figured "stock up with whoever is playing the Titans" would be a nice fallback strategy  :lol

Even British Able To See Holes In Buccaneers' Defense

October 29, 2009 | Issue 45•44 | Onion Sports

LONDON—Despite their lack of experience watching American football and their unfamiliarity with all but the most basic principles of the sport, the local crowd attending the NFL game at London's Wembley Stadium Sunday had little trouble identifying key weaknesses in the Buccaneer defense as the Patriots cruised to a 35-7 victory. "My word, that safety-man has lost contain yet again, and the Bucs are just getting—what's the word?—blocked right off their feet on nearly every play," attendee Martin Hollings said as Patriots running back Laurence Maroney broke free for a 14-yard run. "Oh, I say, poor show…. These chaps are in fact allowed to use their hands, are they not? Because you certainly could not tell by watching them." In a related incident, BBC commentators claimed they meant no offense and were attempting to compliment wide receiver Wes Welker by saying the Tampa Bay secondary "made [Welker] look like Pelé out there."

I've always kind of liked the Pats, tho- I first started seriously paying attention to the NFL when they won their first SB.  Back then the Falcons weren't really good; for fucks sakes, we STILL haven't had back to back winning seasons in Atlanta yet, although most likely that's going to end this year.  By comparison the Pats were and still are a model franchise, and I like winning.

Triumph is admitting he's a fair weather fan  :violin

Local sports radio has been crucifying Calvin Johnson all week due to him saying he wouldn't play if he didn't feel close to 100%. He's the best player on the team, I certainly don't want to see him getting injured for a team with 1 win; if he was healthy I'd guarantee a win today. He's not Mr. Glass ala Charles Rogers.

My family is from St. Louis, so I used to root for them (when they weren't playing the Redskins) until they became The Greatest Show on Turf and everyone liked them. I imagine that it's the same for some of the Pats' semi-fans.

Unlike the Rams, the Patriots became a legitimate dynasty and while they're not unstoppable terrors anymore (there was a time period where teams were afraid to play Brady and Belichick), they are still one of the better teams in the league. Their GM and coaching situation is pretty great, and they've got a Hallf of Famer taking snaps.

I was so happy when the Giants spoiled their perfect season. I've never been huge on the pats, and I went to high school with Kevin Faulk.

I don't really hate dark lord Tom Brady though. they are a really good club. I tend to dislike pats fans. growing up with the saints, every Louisiana football fan had a backup team or two to root for. most gravitated towards teams with players from the area; the pats (Faulk), the panthers (Jake Delhomme), or rarely the Colts (Brandon Stokley - now bobblin it up for Denver lol). most are familiar with the fact that southern football fans can be horrible, and louisiana ranks up there with the best (worst?) of them. just look at LSU. most of these assholes started loving the pats (only after they started dominating though, haha). they are obnoxious and fickle, and the area has tons.

I don't think it's a totally local phenomenon though. today's pats fans are like the cowboys fans of the 80's/90's.

I've never had a consistent team in all my time. I've always been cursed with picking them while they are just breaking out of their underdog status and then abandoning them once the bandwagon gets rolling. Maybe there's some money to be made in this but I haven't found out how yet. :'(
