Dude, you think a black dude is gonna be the protagonist in a jrpg? Whatever, he's a supporting character. Lighting is the main character, and she seems suitably emo.
Whatever, I prefer fantasy settings for rpgs and spiky haired whiny protagonists are ok for like every 3rd jrpg, but EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. is a bit much don'tchathink?
Zidane and Tidus weren't emo.
Well, I think the futuristic settings set FF games apart from every other rpg that tries to fantasy.
Huh, seriously?I though he was pretty cheerful. Not as moody as the mega emo's Cloud and especially Squall.

That's what made IX such a refreshing change of pace- well that and the whole lack of the emo mc.
Even 7 isn't futuristic. The only futuristic locations are Midgar and Junon.Either way, pretty much every FF ever has sci-fi elements.

To one degree or another, though most dig into steampunk more often than things from the future or modern times.
Transformer summons are awesome. but I'm pretty leery about the battle system -- no party control or resource management, and no movement control either?
