Fun demo, nice music, but I have no idea wtf to do when you're driving in the car fighting that dragon. Was hungry so I stopped playing at that point.

Uh, it sticks its tongue out after you dodge it, you get out, axe it, get back in, do that again two more times.

Have you never played a videogame before?

You can also just run it down with the car.

Demo was fun, but the camera is BAD and no jumping is very awkward.

Demo was fuck awesome.  My wallet is crying, but I'm gonna have to pick this up because it looks fucking crazy awesome.  I think what I'll do is just put off Fallout 3 GOTY edition for a little while.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm creating beauty by the power of rock."  :lol :lol :lol

Only complaint is that the game would have been a lil' better with a jump button.

Oh, I thought you had to just dodge him till the chick opens the door up or something. Car controls kinda suck too :P

depending on how much you consider it a spoiler (in regards to actions):

spoiler (click to show/hide)
you get more abilities later on

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/multiplayer-tutorial-brutal-legend/57129

the single player builds up and teaches you the abilities you use in multiplayer, and that video shows a lot of that off.

...I traded in my old version of Fallout 3 a while ago.

Besides, with Brutal Legend, probably Borderlands and Dragon Age I'll have plenty of new games to keep me busy in the meantime.  Plus I am taking two classes this semester, so I kind of need to pay attention to school a bit.  Not that I've yet to get anything other than an A yet... it's funny how if you pay attention, study and do all of your assignments school is pretty easy.

I thought the demo was pretty disappointing. Sure, the writing was excellent, as I'd expect from Schafer. I love the heavy metal stylings and it's all very funny but the gameplay just felt too simplistic and uninteresting. There didn't seem to be much strategy in fighting the different creatures and it just wasn't satisfying. The camera wasn't doing it any favors either. I want to play through it just to see what happens but I doubt I'll buy this at full price, I'll probably wait a month and get it at €20.

But...it was at the beginning of the game.

Then again, in OoT, you have different ways to kill all the monsters you fight from the get go.

This is a Zelda-esque type game right? Or is it a sandbox type game?

Alpha Protocol was delayed.  You might be thinking about that.

and Dragon Age actually looks kinda alright from the recent gameplay videos.  Bioware marketing is really awful (see: new mass effect 2 trailer http://www.gametrailers.com/video/subject-zero-mass-effect/56983  :nsfw) and the writing is pretty bad, but other aspects seem solid.  It seems like different classes at the start have quite different paths.

All of the above.

It also has a lot of RTS elements, apparently.

Apparently if you buy Brutal Legend at Best Buy you get a voucher for 3 Rock Band songs.  I don't know if it will be new songs or old stuff, though.  It would make sense to have some of the BL soundtrack show up as Rock Band DLC next week considering they release on the same day.

I read you're supposed to get a $10 Best Buy gift card there. Is the RB voucher in addition to that or have they changed it? I'm hoping I get the freebies. I ordered Tekken 6 and Brutal Legend during the buy 1 get 1 50% off glitch. I'm doing instore pickup.

Just for the record, I don't care about the game.  I just happen to know there was a Wii version planned.

Interesting. I imagine a PC port will come later, but this is Tim's second game in a row now to pass up a Nintendo console.
Granted, Psychonauts was a fine fit for the GameCube back then, but now... fuck the Wii.

Also, something about buying it and it comes with a 3-song voucher for Rock Band.

Demo is too short for 1.5GB+ but I enjoyed what was there. Looking at the footage after finishing the playable part, it looks more like an RTS or a squad-direction game than a direct action game. Too bad the demo makes it feel like a mashy brawler with a car; I suspect it's got more than that when it goes to a full exploration game rather than a single hallway with a boss fight.

Are you fucking kidding me? This is my most hyped game this fall.

But I can't play the demo because I don't have a 360 or ps3 up here, which also means I can't play it on day one. I'm going to have to wait for Thanksgiving when I get a ps3 slim.

I have the ps3 version pre-ordered and paid in full.

yeah, it's the size of the original PS2 if you ignore how far back it goes.  If you cut off the back and made it a rectangle instead of a square, then it would be comparable.  It's even longer than the original PS3.  I think the actual height and thinness is a bit less than the PS2.

this seems like a nice comparison: http://xs343.xs.to/xs343/09374/ps2-ps2-xbox-xbox-360-wii-size-comparison816.jpg

over 10 cm longer than the PS2.  Smaller everywhere else, but damn.  It's even longer than the beast Xbox.  And wow, The PS3 is bigger than the original Xbox all around too.

I need a new suitcase or some shit. Hell, it'd be easier to buy TWO ps3 slims and an extra 360, because hauling these systems from houston to florida and back is a pain in the ass. It was awesome coming this year with just a laptop and some clothes.

Are you flying or driving, himu?

edit- plus, apparently it's not as easy to stand the PS3 slim vertical as it is with a 360 or OG PS3, so it takes up even MORE space.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but an opening salvo like that makes for a comical echo of message board blabber. If the game is appealing, it will sell. It's got EA backing it, it has received a ton of media attention, so it's up to the game now.

All it said was that the game is so good that it deserves to sell, and videogame media coverage and EA publishing doesn't necessarily translate into dollars (see: Mirror's Edge).

I probably don't need to tell you this Federwang, but make sure that you're not actually losing out on that deal.  Lots of games on the list for that promotion will get you more than $20 in trade in credit at your local GS... although now that I think about it, Halo 3 is $39.99 new now, right?  And they're probably dropping the price on the OG Fallout 3 since GOTY is coming out, too.  Well, anyway it's good to be aware of it is all I'm saying.

Also, multiplayer tomorrow night.  :rock
