i really liked the travel the world aspect of NG2 in comparison to the NG1 "huge expansive world" ideal. Although, I loved how you could backtrack and find hidden stuff in NG1. On the flip side, I love the old school game pacing of NG2, and I attribute this solely to the multiple levels. It really created some great visual variety.

Yeah, I prefer stage based simply because I either get lost in hubs and have to figure out where to go next, or they are just padded extra time between real areas.

the stages are so boring though.  you just run on a track most of the time, aside from a couple platforming moments.  it's just so flat.  the backgrounds may look different, but I think Tairon had more variety.

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but once you Izuna Drop Genshin once, you can spam ->TTSST with the Lunar to repeatedly Izuna him until he's dead. He'll never block it while he's recovering.

has nothing to do with normal mode, i'm sure.

It's not Kamiya's fault Hayashi didn't put anything new on the table with NGS2.  This game is more balanced, but boring.

Uh, he was referring to NG1.

Lets face it, the actual combat in NG2 destroys Bayonetta.  It isn't as flashy, but it sure as hell feels like a real fight on your hands.  Even on Normal mode you can slump through bayonetta spamming the evade button for easy bullet time style attacks.

Even on "normal mode"?  Don't you mean "even on the 15 minute demo"?  And I disagree that you can spam dodge on the falling clock tower part.  Ryu's moves are fun, but the actual combat is about on par right now.  You get hit more in NG2, but without it ever doing much damage (comparing both normal modes here.)  Enemies in the bayonetta demo and NG2 are fodder, so the combat has about the same effect to me.  Except that bayonetta's insanity is a lot less boring.

I really don't know how you can equate the AI between the two games.  It boggles my mind  The enemies in NG2 come at you aggressively.

The AI in Bayonetta slowly moves around, and their attacks make it seem like they are swinging their weapons through water.  It is so slow.  You have to be on your toes in NG2.

Maybe the final version of Bayonetta will be awesome.  I dunno.  I love action games so I'll probably get it.  I just think its crazy to say the ai in both games are fodder, as it isn't even close.  Maybe in the final version of bayonetta the ai will be better.  I'm definitely playing it on a higher difficulty than normal.

Man fuck the clock tower in NGS2. I fell off the platforms like fifty times. Also that level gave me severe motion sickness and I don't know why.

lemme clarify.  you do get attacked a lot more in NG2. but even from the first level, ryu is kind of a tank.  you die in about 5 hits in bayonetta, probably to compensate for how little they attack (like DMC.)  but in both games, I feel like I can just wail on the enemies without having to defend or plan in advance all that much.  It's like "educated mashing," where I know the combos, but don't actively think about what I'm using. :lol

Bought it for 40 dollars used from a friend.

three shite things i noticed:

1- why the fuck do bosses heal themselves wtf.

2- why the fuck i can't upgrade my weapons in chapter 1 lamo

3- chapter 2 on broad daylight  :yuck

Yeah, the Buddha and Statue of Liberty (I think) need to be killed with OT's, or they'll just keep healing themselves over and over. And you can UT them and get the 5000 karma bonus.

2 + 2 = worthless leaderboards for certain chapters.

the little puzzle in chapter 2 with the plates/shooting balls was kinda awkward for me.

I was like "WHY CAN'T I TAKE IT DUDE" suddenly distinguished mentally-challenged archers attacking me for the other side, beat them and the door thingy descended.

this is sigma 1 all over again, just straight beat them up, no items to open doors or shit to shoot at and I can't say shooting arrows with the R2 button is pleasant, fucking homo ps triggers.

Didn't he heal himself like that in NG2 too? Though it seems like it heals a lot more damage in NGS2.

IMO the only things harder in NGS2 are most of the boss fights (since they do more damage and have more health), and a few of the Ultimate Ninja missions in MM. Plus, the lower level weapons have more moves compared to NG2 (level 1 weapons have an Izuna for example).

On the higher difficulties, Chapter 1 and 2 are a joke compared to NG2.

:lol Same thing happened to me. I was standing in front of the red plate for like 5 minutes trying to figure out why I couldn't pick it up. Then I ran over to the other room and saw an archer running into the wall that he's supposed to break through.

He could have, just don't remember him healing this much and yeah, I noticed how I can Izuna drop any bitches right from the start, probably for the 1000 Izuna trophy.

I could see Chapter 2 being a joke, lots of archers and ninja dogs, less ninjas.

btw my love, I upgraded Lunar staff, was that a wise move? I remember you saying something about not being able to upgrade all weapons if I did the Dragon Sword or something.

Well at level 2 the Lunar gets the 360+Y UT, so yes, very wise.

The only way to fully upgrade every weapon in a single playthrough is to never touch the DS or Dual Katanas, but I'm pretty sure you'll get to a point fairly soon where the only weapon in your inventory you'll have left to upgrade is the DS... I always upgrade my DS first anyway, because that's when it can flying swallow -> shuriken -> on-landing attack, which I cannot live without.

Way less enemies in both chapter 3 and 4, especially 3 and both didn't get much of a graphical boost (never liked these chapters anyway). only thing different is that purple fiends have a black variant now, they look cool I guess.

also getting Enma's fangs right before Alexei, I can't wait to test it out on him and that statue boss.

edit: most doors are locked now, no running away from fights anymore.

The enemy count in chapter 3 was pretty jarring. It felt like 90% of the sewer section was cut entirely.

Not really a bad thing though, since you wound up fighting like 50 van gelfs in tight little corridors. Lunar UT :bow2

Plus those giant bats at the start of the water section and before the save point always raped the shit out of me. Good riddance.

Surprisingly, Rachel is probably the best of the girls. She has the scythe UT, her gun is overpowered as hell and she has some extremely damaging combos. She's still slow and she's missing vital moves but the rest of her arsenal makes up for it. Momiji is decent, she has a few attacks that do good damage and delimb for easy OT's. Plus the air UT is pretty useful. Ayane is just straight up terrible though. She does about half as much damage as she needs to.

I thought the new gun was kinda useless on fiends. As soon as I got it, I shot a werewolf in the face twice with it and he was still standing. So I never used it again on a regular enemy.

I dismembered a regular werewolf with just one shot, dunno if it was a lucky shot.

Rachel might be more brutal than Sigma 1 and the other girls but damn if her fight with Marbius wasn't lame.

he wasn't as fast as he was in NG1 nor as fun, shit fucking sucked, So far Momiji level is the best, Tengus were fun.

honestly I think they should drop this girls bullshit in NG and just give Ryu their weapons, just imagine Ryu with Momiji Spear. :o

A lot of framedrops Chapter 10 (8 in NG2) even with zero IS ninjas but the clockwork tower textures gained a nice boost or perhaps it's the better lighting, whatever it is.

just beat it.

chapter 11 from NG2 is really a ghost town here, all you fight are some weak sauce tengus, ninja dogs and some low level ninjas. I miss slashing hundreds of Ninjas with the Wind Ninpo.  :(

the rest are about the same, they just replaced two armadillo boss with marbius who is WAAAAY weaker than NG1 and no more gold flying gelfs, just NG1 little weak fiends. also they let you clear Volf's horse army before you fight him. :lol

overall, this is Sigma 1 all over again, some changes for good others just total downgrade (a lot of them sadly).

and they changed the awesome end credits with Ryu's shiny flat ass.

I'm hoping it's hinting more towards a new DoA. They've been releasing a lot of NG games, while the last DoA came out nearly 4 years ago. We've already seen what Hayashi can do with NG (which have been inferior and a side-grade at best compared to the originals), so I'd like to see what he can do with DoA.

If the original levels and characters in NGS and NGS2 are anything to go by, I won't be very excited for NG3  :-\

Yeah, I'm cool with a new DOA, don't care about tourney shit or how broken blahblahblah it is I just like it because it's fun.

Hayashi is more mainstream, with chicks and portan shit but if NG3 on next gen that will give him and his team lots of time to think of new ideas.

Started playing this myself after getting it during the Best Buy sale.

One thing to note, their 1080p upscaling option SUCKS.  I keep my PS3 in 1080p and the game defaults to this.  The result?  It looks slightly blurry AND suffers from constant screen tearing.  Setting it to 720p, however, results in a much cleaner looking game and drastically improved performance.  It's really like night and day for me.

I'm enjoying all of the extra goodies they've slid into the game.  It is well integrated and makes it feel a bit more complete.  I always thought the 360 game felt unfinished in some weird way.

Aight.

Got a new ps3, a slim.

Immediately dled the Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 demo...anddddd...I don't like it. :( Maybe it's because of the amount of time I spent with NG2 on 360, but I can't stand it. I find it too easy (path of the warrior on demo), and for some reason I can't control the camera as well as I did in the 360 version. It seems I can't re-center the camera without going into bow mode. wtf.

The lack of gore is :( but the remixed fights are interesting. You fight multiple black spider clan ninjas with claws, who you typically don't fight well into the chapter 2 or 3 on the first chapter in this demo, and that was a pleasant surprise.

Though, due to my duty to that is all Ninja Gaiden, I will have to pick it up when it's cheap down the line.

Ninja Gaiden 1 and its permutations have been exactly that for me. kinda doesn't count because of the expansions, but hey, I'm still playing black and sigma.  I can still replay DMC3 + SE like that too.  Godhand seems deep enough to do that, but I'm way too ADD for that game.

but GOW1 and 2, DMC4, NG2, NG2S-- these are games I like and replay occasionally, but wouldn't cry about if I could never play them again.

and himuro-- NGS2 is worth a playthrough, if only to see what they've done with the game cause it's kinda weird, but it's just...not that fun.

Bayonetta is better than everything.  Ninja Gaiden, God Of War, and Devil May Cry, all owned.  Soundly.  Considering it's from the creator of Devil May Cry, the guy who basically started this sub-genre, is it so difificult to believe?

Bayonetta makes all the other similar games its bitch.  The bar has been raised way the hell up, yadda yadda etc. etc.

I like to think of the opening scene, with "Joe Pesci" pissing on a gravestone, as representing Bayonetta pissing all over its competition.

Himu, have fun reading-- http://www.evilbore.com/forum/index.php?topic=31996.0  The game has superior defensive and offensive combat, plus a vastly better combo system than any other game like it.  Plus you can pick up enemy weapons when you kill them.  Plus you can upgrade shit.  Plus you can make your own power-ups.  Plus it has awesome driving and shooting sequences.  Plus it's got challenging hard and super-hard modes.  Plus it has special items you can buy that can change up the game play.  Plus it has humongoid bosses that will make your mouth drop.  Plus the bosses keep on getting bigger and badder.  Plus the game has hidden challenge areas and a secret boss.  Plus it has online rankings.  Plus it just rocks your face right off.

And FUCK YES, DOWNLOAD THE DEMO!  Just make sure you get it on 360.  What's with the "rolleyes?"  It's distinguished mentally-challenged that you haven't downloaded it already, but you downloaded the NG Sigma 2 demo?  LOL, Himu.  LOL.

OKAY I WILL DL IT.

I don't even care about combo systems in these games anymore. I'll see if the defense game is better than NGB/NG2 after playing this demo, but that's the main draw. Overly offensive and frantic games like DMC bore me now.

What about the ai? Is the ai at least marginally blood thirsty and ruthless? Or is it like DMC where the enemies just stand around?

JUST DOWNLOAD THE FUCKING DEMO.

The defense is awesome because you can dodge attacks, and when you time this right, the game rewards you by going into witch time, where you move normally but everything else moves slowly.  Also know that the demo is missing a lot of cool shit the game has, but it's still a good representation of things.  If you want to be really hardcore about it, play the demo on 360 first (you need a J-account or access to the code for it) then play the gimped PS3 demo, since it has a longer and extra boss fight, but is missing a stage that the 360 demo has.
