yeah i think im ready to start playing this again, the trick is to use a light quick touch especially with the right trigger and tortures, or else youll injure yourself eventually

I broke 2000 doing one of those Gigaton mashers from beating a boss, not that 2000 halos means shit to me

Whoa, you sure are some dedicated gamers. I beat it on normal and thought it was pretty hard. No chance in hell I'd replay this on a higher difficulty level. I'm not a machochist.

It really isn't that hard.  The sword/claws combo is borderline broken and there are some pretty simple combos (aka PK(ch)P) that destroy most enemies.  There is an abundance of checkpoints too, moreso than any other game like this.  If I had to do the Space Harrier shit every time before I fought Jeanne I wouldn't bother.

You really shouldnt be dying or using items at all... tsk tsk

I only used the items when you had to use the canons to fight Fortiudo or whatever in Chapter 15, and that was out of impatience.

demi

I had trouble with that, but the cannon shoots faster if you mash the buttons, like in the Fantasy Zone level. You can disrupt his laser attack, too.

How the heck do you kill something by jumping on it?  That's one of the achievements, and I can't figure out how to do it.

Equip Kilgore on feet, go to Prologue and jump on stuff

Congrats

lol, I've never used Kilgore.  That explains it.  I kept trying to get it with Odette.

Thanks!

Wow, what an idiot.  His main reason for disliking Bayonetta is that the art styles and the main character's fashion choices clash? :rofl

Maybe he should go back to critiquing Project Runway and America's Top Model and leave Bayonetta to the real gamers.

derp derp I'm to much of a sensitive baby to ignore the best playing action game of all time.  I honestly stopped giving a shit about Bayonetta's over the top sluttiness about 30 minutes into the game.

His achievements only have him past the prologue... I sent him a message (he's on my list) saying he should put more time into it. At least finish the game before saying its shit... really irks me when people do that.

I read that this morning and it honestly made me a bit upset. What a tard. Also Ichi, you can use the whip and shotguns to jump kill enemies. Jump, grab them and then jump off them. It's how I got my achievement, it's also how you beat two of the Alfhiems.

I haven't even bothered with the Alfheims yet, just trying to finish the game on hard right now.

Most of the alfheims are doable even on Hard, I had to notch to Normal for a couple - namely the one where you have to defeat the Golem using only Witch Time

tbh, Scenester, I would rent it if you are hard on money. I think you could run through it on a weekend if you wanted. Even 1000 isnt hard, if you are used to difficult games / reflexes.

really? I was kinda expecting like an extreme amount of time for the achievements after DMC4, sweet I'll look at renting it. I think a bro is picking it up so I might just borrow it of him when hes done, but then theres a waiting period... I'll see how my finances look in a week. Mass Effect 2 does have priority though.

Just got both achievements with Khulshedra and Kilgore equipped.  I'd gotten too used to using Shuraba and Odette.

Thanks, guys.  Going to see if I can finish up the game on hard today and then start working on the Alfheims.

Only past the fucking prologue?  The guy is reviewing the game after playing probably an hour of it?  That's just embarrassing and pathetic.

Obviously he has no understanding of the mechanics of the gameplay or anything else that would qualify him to review it.  It'd be like Ebert critiquing a movie he only saw the opening thirty minutes of.  And this guy's getting paid for this?  Pathetic.

You can buy the Red Hot Kick too (called Afterburner Kick in the game)

i dont understand something about the alfheims, the only way to do them on normal after you beat the game is to start a new game, but how would the peices of witch heart and cracked magic orbs transfer over to my new game+ file on hard?

demi

  • cooler than willco
  • Administrator
i'm not sure i understand the question... you can do alfheims on any difficulty, and it will add to your current heart / pearl. any previous spots / alfheims you do will reward you with an angel bullet.

to replay a level on a different difficulty you go to the submenu (LB)

Yeah, drew, you don't have to make a new save file to play the game on hard.  You just use the RB to bring up the sub-menu and switch the difficulty on all the levels you've already cleared on normal.  You can choose to do the Alfheims in any order. I'm just holding off 'cause I want to do them all once I clear hard and have enough Halos stored up so that I can get the Moon of Maaha Kaala.
PS4

Just do the halo farm trick on Iustria (plant), even without trying you can get over 200k halos

Bayonetta debuted 5th in the UK sales charts.   8)

It was beat out by "Just Dance" on the Wii. :'(

Anybody know how it's doing in the US, saleswise?  I saw the US advertising on Youtube.  It actually looks pretty cool.  Plus, all the reviews have been great.  I don't know if that will translate into sales, though.  I hope so, I'd love to see another Bayonetta game a couple of years from now.  Maybe one that takes place in Inferno this time!

It will probably sell enough to feed Kamiya for another game, and frankly that is all we can hope for.  A game like this is going to have very limited appeal.

Grace and Glory just relax and pepper them with bullets.

One (usually) will only come up to you, then do a downward claw swipe, which is easy to RT and activate witch time.

The AI is as smart as DMC4's, as long as the other isnt in camera focus, it wont attack.

Judging by the gamer dudes on my favorite non-gaming specific forum, people either don't know much about it, or are reluctant to buy it because of what they do know about it, which essentially extends to jappy wacky cheeseburger DMC. I posted a clip I found that showed off a couple of the torture attacks and the basic gameplay, and that didn't help much.

Yeah I think it will probably do 200-300k at most in Europe and the US.  Apparently it did 300k in Japan so half a million for a game like this isn't that bad.

It charted alright in the UK, though (6th and 14th), beating out Darksiders which is supposedly selling well. Not great placements, but maybe good word of mouth will boost it a bit.

Just got to some electro and fire boss dudes, how far in is that? Trying to figure out if I should just go ahead and buy it, or if I'll have to complete it in the rental period.

When you parry with the Moon of Mana Khalaa, how do you go into witch time? I did it by accident a few times today and it helped a lot against Gracious and Glorious. I can't fucking stand them on hard.

Not far. What chapter was that?

demi

There's two types of parrys with the moon. The first one is a general bounce-back. The second, you have to get them like... immediately before you get hit. You'll know it worked when this bright orb appears and she slices back, and WT activates.

Much easier to practice on the prologue to see the difference.

Duckman is probably talking about Chapter 5 where you first meet Grace and Glory. That's not far at all. There's 18 chapters in the game (Prolog + 16 chaps + Epilogue)

Ah, so it's like the bat thing. The regular bounce back parry is much easier to do than I thought it would be. I love that it reflects back projectiles too.

Whoever thought the Angel Arms (and their related missions) implementation was acceptable needs to find a new profession. They are clearly not fit for game design.

Finished it for the first time last night and thought it was surprisingly good.  It has its share of flaws (annoying technical hiccups and frequent nonsense in the form of cutscenes), but it's way better than I expected it to be.  I was never a huge Devil May Cry fan and almost wrote this off as a result, but really, it's so much more fun.

So I beat the secret boss.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
That was really really fucking hard. Easily the hardest boss in th entire game plus the fight is in Non Stop Climax mode. FUCK HARD. I put on the Climax Bracelet because fighting him any other way is masochism. I almost beat him once with out getting hit, had half his health bar left and he does his near instant kill attack. Normally you can just turn into the panther and run away but it's like he warped to me. FUCKING INSTANT TRANSMISSION. I barely beat him many tries later. You get the final LP "Rodin" for beating him.
