I've been playing it so far and enjoying it. To me it kinda feels like some of the other freemium games that I play in bursts. It probably helps that I wasn't a huge player of the prior games so for me its not a change or anything from what it was before as I didn't play that. It's not so different from something like battle nations.

Hey Chrono, thought you'd get a kick out of this story.

So Friday night we were all hanging out. One buddy said he'd given up Battle Nations for Lent. Our friend who created the game got on his phone and called up his co-creator and told him about it. He was then informed that if our friend logged into Battle Nations right then, breaking his Lent promise, he'd be given 1,000,000 Nanopods for free.

He didn't do it. But man did we try to get him to do it.

Yeah, that got an actual guffaw out of me.

I was just about done with the game, and then over the weekend they offered a 20% discount on the US$20 nanopod cache. FFFfffuuuuuu... I am pretty sure I'll be done with it after this bucket runs out, but that's what I said last time.

I can't believe how much Trade Nations I've played JUST to get the Z2 points for purchasing Z2-prestige items in Battle Nations. I started to play MetalStorm as well, for the same reason, but after a LOT of messing about, Z2 confirmed that MetalStorm's Z2 points are not acknowledged in the TN/BN shared space. Completely bogus.

XCOM Enemy Unknown is coming to both iPhone and iPad. Same game as the PC/console version.

Still waiting for Frozen Synapse and Ghost Recon to come out. These types of games are a good fit for iOS.

I was impressed that tuning had a perceivable, measurable effect on gameplay, and that rivals appear to have a set course which is not optimal to the track's line, so you can literally outrace them on skill, f your car is a little under spec.

Friends of mine put together a little app where you practice an iai-jutsu move to make the perfect cut. It's good for a drinking game at an izakaya, I think.

In Star Command your ship cannot "die" so all you need to do is put people in the weapon rooms and defend those. Then patch up the ship a bit after a fight. You can leave the holes in your ship to suck out enemies...

Ace Pilots is really good, i hope the iap is just missions.

Gemini Rue works really well as an ios game too.
