Serious. Virtua Cop was always the better franchise IMO.

Yeah it is cool Genny games are on ios.

(Image removed from quote.)

In the 90s no one I knew preferred House of the Dead. No one. The first time we encountered it was at a laser tag place in 97. We played that machine a few a times and it was fun but it wasn't Virtua Cop. Everyone I knew preferred Virtua Cop, Time Cop, and Point Blank. To stress how much no one gave a shit about House of the Dead, Namco, the queen of ripping off Sega games (Virtua Fighter -> Tekken, Virtua Cop -> Time Cop;etc) never bothered to make an HotD rip off - to my knowledge. I remind you practically everything Namco was successful with in the 90s was a Sega rip off except for maybe Ridge Racer (debatable), Point Blank, and Soul ____ series.

In fact, Typing of the Dead is (probably) more popular than HotD proper.

Yeah, there's a reason HotD2 is as seminal as it is. For a lot of people it's THE arcade shooter. Its quotes got quite popular in the internet age, too.

Also I think I heard that people consider it the black sheep of the "main" series, but I love HotD4. Sure, it's not exactly like 2/3 but it's still pretty darn fun and remains true to most of the series' conventions.

I still wanna play EX though, even though it seems pretty goofy.

You don't need to be on-line to play Trials.

If your timers run out, just forward your clock to refresh.

Oh god damn it. I watched a video of someone playing it and it is still slow as shit. UGHHHHHH

They didn't fix 8's most glaring flaw.

Still, it is great to have DQ again. We western fans have had a major drought and DQ - along with Smt - replaced FF as my go to jrpg series years ago so this really makes me happy.

Lack of horizontal view sucks and lack of voice support, but I'm saddened they didn't speed up battles the most.

It has battles but I'm not seeing battle speed options so far. It is certainly not this.

http://m.

Or even IX's speed level.

Which is weird because DQ remakes are always improvements over the original game. In this case it seems they only ported it without making any tweaks at all. Disappointing and not sure if worth 20 bux but will grab when able to help support DQ in Ingles.

I hope you're wrong, Demi. :fbm

This honestly just makes me want to buy it for someone else so it counts as supporting the product but I don't want to play it. If they do IX, that'll be more my speed.

It's crazy to me that I can play one of the best looking PS2 games and one of the best JRPGs on my freaking phone.
 :mindblown

But it's quite a bit of money! I can see the value though since the closest competition this port has is The Shadow Sun which looks and plays decently but isn't anything too special. It is important to note that DQ8 iOS is a port of the Japanese version which means no fancy orchestrated audio or VO for us. Which makes sense considering how much bigger it would make the game's file size. Still though, the VO was awesome so I'll definitely miss it.

There is something real fishy with this new battleheart game.

Im level 8 now and there are no quests, no quest tracker. Shit is weird.

Just wondering around map aimlessly, game lacks direction of the first one and the combat is not as fun with just one character

3/5 stars!

Here is Horde of Heroes

A simple match three with some nice chippy tunes and pixely art. It is free, and has IAPs for stuff, but I havent hit any paywalls or roadblocks yet. You level up and get stronger.

Either way, it's great. ^_^ Level design is more diverse, there's more goals, its cutesy art style is more pleasing to the eye, and the puzzles are so far much more varied.

Hope it lasts!

edit: putting up for the night and I made it to level 12. Making precise corner shots takes a lot more skill than in BWS1.

They don't look tooooooooo bad. Swiping the screen to move the camera might be annoying since it blocks your view of the monster.

The menu stuff looks great though, especially mining/contextual shit. MH3/U's menu system was archaic to a fault (but you could also get quite efficient at it after a while of playing, I guess.)
