Played the demo's of Brutal Legend and Bayonetta. Both horrible games. Not even worth a DVD9.

MW was boring. And I don't care for online fps. So no MW2 for me, either.

None of the three:

Brutal Legend is almost like a joke - I'm not sure whether it is serious or not. On one hand, it has a pretty decent lineup of metal. On the other hand, it has Jack Black and overrated Tim Schafer gameplay. I don't want to pay money for what turns out to be a troll. Fortunately, it will tank and I might snag a $10 clearance copy (wedged in between copies of Madden NFL 08 and Lair) in a few months.

Bayonetta - I saw that .gif of that zoom-in on her crotch. Sorry, I don't like to play games that ritually embarrass the people that play them. Plus Junpei is going apeshit over the game, which probably steered me away from the game more than anything.

Modern Warfare 2 - I'd get this but by the time I'd go online, there'd be dudes clocking in hundreds of hours, making quick work of me whenever I'm in a multiplayer match.

Edit: I voted MW2 but MW2 >= Bayonetta >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Yet Another Tim Schafer Failfest

Never heard of Brutal Legend. My first impression of Bayonetta was that 15 minute opening, which was basically the worst thing I had ever seen. And Call of Duty blows.

Therefore, the only correct answer is Dragon Age.

It's not that embarrassing...it's one of those "so ridiculous that everyone can laugh" kinds of things (at least, so far with the people I've showed.) Not like Final Fantasy or NIS games at all. And once you start playing, people can see that it's fun. unlike animu rpgs where the gameplay equates to taking a multiple choice test with the same 5 questions over and over for 60 hours.

Yes. I thought it was good, albeit pretty simplistic, and the combat didn't feel as smooth as it could be, but this is a game I'd play for its story/dialogue/humor and atmosphere, so it doesn't matter.

Bayonetta lets you cancel combos into other combos, which is pretty nuts for an action game. It's gonna be great.

I like both games and normally wouldn't even think of comparing them. Bayonetta goes into the same class with Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry, not Brutal Legend.

yeah. lets put it this way-- I found out everything I needed to know about BL in one playthrough of the demo. I'm still replaying the Bayonetta demo and learning new shit. It's a deep action game (deep gameplay, not story.)

For me, the BL demo wasn't indicative enough of what it will be. It's an OWG but the demo is one long hallway. It's an RTS but there are no forces to control. It's a 3rd-person action game, but there were no challenging enemies.

What gets me confused is people are mentioning waiting for the price drop; whatever -- but why not rent it or gamefly it? EA's putting a lot of energy into getting it onto shelves. It will be stunning if the price drop happens anytime soon.

It is a way of belittling the game. In other words, the game will bomb so hard that retailers will need to do a fire sale to clear out unsold copies of this game.

anecdotal evidence incoming

i know a few people who bought PS3s for blu ray, and none of them really know much of shit about games (except for the mainstream media type games like the CODs and such)

they've mentioned and asked me about this game - they know Ozzy is in it, they know Lemmy is in it, they know Rob Halford is in it, they've seen it being talked about on tv

that tells me there's a certain amount of awareness about it outside the regular video game circles - whether that translates to sales or not i have no idea

I'm not wishing it to bomb, I just think it -and Bayonetta- will both be bomb-bombs when all is said and done. Brutal Legend has a much better chance of success, at least.
