Pretty much all the best games this gen are multiplat, but I feel that the ps3 exclusives are definitely more interesting these days. That said, both systems offer enough to own both imo.

With God of War 3 and GT 5 and Uncharted 2, I think the PS3 exclusives have reached parity or nudged ahead slightly but for the longest time it wasn't the case. Especially relative to what people actually want to buy.

Things like Little Big Planet, The Resistance series, or Ratchet and Clank titles have always been sort of over-rated imo on how Sony fans view those series, versus how the general public views them.

If you're a Wipeout fan then I suppose the PSN version is a godsend but personally I could live without it.  The whole PSN vs XBLA is a wash, imo.  They're pretty much equal anymore.

Actually, Castle Crashers was developed for the PSN WAYYYY back but Sony rejected it because it wasn't 'next-gen' enough. Hopefully the PSN version won't be plagued by the same shitty netcode the XBLA version had.
I played through most of the XBLA exclusives on PartnerNet at work and the best one probably was Hasbro Family Game Night. Everything else was forgettable for me. (I already have Trials 2 on Steam)

Microsoft doesn't need anything else. Putting Halo on the cover of anything sells over a million units, and Gears of War is easily the biggest first-party franchise this generation.

I think Microsoft is done with Japan, though. It genuinely tried to reach out, they lost a ton of money as a result. Do what you're good at and they're good at making a frag box.

But people who post on message boards aren't basing their opinions on fanboyism.  Even someone as well known to be a Sony fan as Kittanowy talks about how much Resistance 2 sucks.  And I'm sure there are some people out there that like Perfect Dark Zero, but I won't label them an Xbot or whatever.  There are definitely cases where people defend games because they're on their favored system (Wii Music, Lair, etc.) but it's kinda obvious which ones are sucking some corporate sack.

And I can honestly say that Far Cry 2 and Mirror's Edge are two of the best games this "gen" and both didn't quite hit with the general public.  They're not rare cases either.  As I said: fuck the general public.  Sales are almost always boring because the general public's buying happens hold no weight for how I feel about games; only thing as irrelevant are game critics.

Yeah, where are the JRPGs?  Blue Dragon didn't do too bad on 360, the sequel should have come out for it instead of on the DS where it ended up getting ignored.  They didn't light the sales charts on fire but the higher profile JRPGs seemed to bring in half a million a pop, not a failure by any means.

I suspect it is just a sign that third parties are focusing more on the west and cheaper cost of handheld software production.  Japan is now third behind the US and the UK.  It is dropping in relevance and I imagine this won't change anytime soon.

It's a game that sold nowhere near the amount of hype or messageboard traffic generated that you would think it would have. And to boot I didn't think it was essentially a good platformer, the very thing it was supposed to be. And yet I still believe it was the top 5 or top 3 on the GAF goty list. So in that sense I side with the public. It was just another game among many of that year. Neat feature list and online sharing feature. Not an actual great game to play.

You just let yourself fall prey to unrealistic expectations of others.  Again, it's easy to point out.  When someone says Killzone 2 will sell big because it's like Call of Duty, you know that person is loony.
