get it first chance you get. I have one and it can't be beat for the price. There are always those people who assume cheap means absolute crap.  But fuck 'em. When you call them out they usually resort to jokes to further get their point across. But most c9 owners agree it is pretty solid.

No automatic weapons or pistols allowed here in NZ without a super special hardcore gun license which is pretty much impossible to get unless you have a prison to keep them in and have military experience etc. However when I was younger my Dad gave me a .22 rifle and a shotgun for hunting. Used to go shooting rabbits and possums as a teen and take the tails to DOC (department of conservation.. they're pests here) for cash money.

Ended up shooting a possum one evening only to go up to it and see a whole bunch of babies start crawling out of it's pouch with this pathetic mewing sound. Haven't gone hunting since :lol.

Also, fuck this ignore people through links shit, I fell for the rebiak one and just found out I've had Rob Thomas on ignore too.

To be honest, I love to shoot targets, but there are very few living things I would shoot.  And only one or two of them have proper names!

living things are much more fun, I don't think I'd be thrown by something like killing a few possum babies these days, I could always justify hunting with some environmental shit, there's a decent amount of introduced pests here messing with our native bush and wildlife, even deer are considered a pest here :lol . I live in the city now though, not much bush to go hunting in around here and I can guarantee most of my friends would be pretty appalled at the idea of going bush to shoot some stuff... I tried target shooting at the rifle club for a while, not really my bag though.

Guns are awesome in movies when you see Chow Yun Fatt wipe out 50 fools in a dinner while pigeons are flying around in slow mo.

When a white kid with funny hair is buying machine guns and several hand guns, it's either scary or just plain weird. There's nothing awesome about that scenario.

It's really no better than japs buying blow up dolls or pillows whatever

Blow up dolls, pillows etc is more about being inept at life.

I really see nothing wrong with owning guns.  It's not like I'm going to go out looking for people to kill.  The only time I take them out of my home is to a range.  It's extremely common around here for people to own guns.  It's something I enjoy.

I mean, I don't knock you for giving random men blowjobs, so why would you knock MY hobby?  ???

distinguished effete fellows

Yeah I think it's pretty crazy any civvie can go out and buy pistols and automatic weapons so easily in America. Here hunting rifles and shotguns are all you can get and imo that's the way it should be. There's no reason a civvie should need a pistol or automatic weapon, except perhaps a pistol for self defense but in 90% of cases a decent baseball bat would probably be a better choice and you wont end up accidentally killing someone wielding that shit out of fear.

Do any of you guys get into paintball? I love playing that game with a group of friends. Haven't done it for ages though.

He was actually right since his point was that you are more likely to injure/kill somebody on accident then you are to defend yourself from an intruder.

So jay, no P99 or Five-seveN for you? :(

If the P99 is unreliable, fine, but what about the other one? Those are pretty much the only two handguns I like. The PPK is cool too because it's the old Bond gun, but I dunno it just looks too baby.

5 7 is a great gun except for the fact that you dont really get what it was made for unless youre not a civilian, then you can buy the armor piercing rounds (same stuff the fn p90 uses)

I was wondering whether or not it was the gun or just the bullets that weren't available to civilians.

If you like guns, like guns.  Please don't give me that "i own 14 guns for home defense" line.

I love guns.  I once described my love for guns to a friend like this.  I view guns as an artist views a famous painting.  I wholeheartedly appreciate the intricacy of the piece.  It's just... beautiful to me.

And I don't like the 5 7 that much because I don't like the look of it.  I also think it gets too many counterstrike fanboys, like the desert eagle has.

I've never messed with the P99, but it looks really similar to the P22, which I have handled and shot, and was not a fan of.

Actually the first time I heard about the Five-seveN was in Metal Gear Solid for the GBC. Counter-Strike just cemented my love for it.

Now, I am a bit different from that.  I'm going to get a conceal and carry, and pray I never HAVE to use it.  There was a video linked somewhere about "depussification" on the forum...  and I watched a few minutes of that, enough for the guy to link to his video about his opinions on concealed carry.  I watched that entire video, and really pulled some interesting thoughts from it.

()

I will carry, and I will train to use my firearm in a situation where it is absolutely NECESSARY.  But I will try everything I can to diffuse a situation before it comes to that, and I will pray it never happens.

That being said, my main draw to guns is still the beauty.

At least you're honest.  I don't care about guns (in fact i'm going to buy an over-under here soon) but the whole home-invasion mentality hero is lulworthy.

Agreed.  The people who obsess and get horny over the idea of blowing someone away when defending their castle from a home invasion are the ones who creep me the fuck out.  That's the aspect of American gun culture that disturbs me.

This, however, is an attitude I can and do respect.  Even if the desire to conceal and carry weirds me out a bit (haven't watched the youtube vid, will probably get around to it though).  I never carry off duty (though Canadian policy doesn't allow it anyway except for certain circumstances) and I have no desire to.

Bringing this back from the dead again to update some of my recent purchases in order of when I got them.

Sorry, all I have are stock photos because my camera cable is FUBAR'd at the moment, when I get that fixed I'll have some range pics to put up.

Hi-Point Model C9 - 9mm

I was just in the mood to pick up something cheap and this DEFINITELY fits the bill there.  It put me back only $150, and it kind of shows it.  I'm not a huge fan, but it does seem like a straight shooter.  It's good if you're looking for something on the cheap, but I don't think I would ever carry it, or want to have it anywhere other than the range.  It's too bulky and top heavy, and after firing it for a while, I've noticed it has started to jam some.  The rounds sit in the mag kind of off sometimes, and will get turned before being chambered...  no thank you.

All in all, for the price, I've gotta give it a 3.5/5.  I mean, it's solid, but not something I take every time I go to the range.

Sig Sauer Blackwater 1911 - .45 ACP

From the second I saw this gun online, I absolutely fell in love.  And that didn't change a single bit once I got it.  It has one of the smoothest actions I've ever seen on a handgun, with the perfect amount of tension when you're pulling back the slide to know that it's really a solid gun.  After three boxes of rounds, I have yet to jam this gun, and I'm using cheap ammo.  It's not a bit picky at all.  I haven't put any hollow point rounds through it to test how they chamber, but I don't foresee any issues.  This thing is like a dream come true.  Came with the Sig night sights too, which give a nice glow in low light situations.  I plan on getting a STL 900L at some point to seat on the picaninny rail, but that'll have to wait.

This one gets a 6/5 from me, because it's quite possibly the most beautiful gun I've ever shot.

Sig Sauer P6 - 9mm

I saw this at the local shop used, and liked it quite a bit once I picked it up and handled it a little.  It's a nice small gun, perfect for conceal and carry.  I was looking for something along those lines anyway, so I thought it a good purchase.  It was a German police trade in, and my local shop purchased it from a distributor.  It came with a lefty police-style holster which I have absolutely no use for since I'm right handed, but I figure maybe it'll be a good trading chip later on.  When I took it out to the range, it shot pretty well.  It's just like my Mosquito (which I absolutely loved, and would have carried if it weren't so picky on ammo).  They're almost the same size and weight even, which is great considering this is a 9mm and the Mosquito was a .22lr.

I give this one a 4/5.  It's perfect for carry, and I'm pretty sure it's what I'll take my CCW test with.

Those are my new guns, and the last ones I get for a while.  I've completely blown my budget out of the water...  :lol

However...  I will still get accessories...   :D

Right now, I'm looking at a Minotaur MTAC Holster for the Sig P6.  I've been wanting an IWB holster for a while now, and these look pretty solid.

Anyone have experiences with IWB holsters, or does anyone else currently carry?  If so, what method do you use?

I shot the C9 and it kicks pretty hard for a gun that size as well. Me and tehjaybo figured out that it was actually because the grip on the gun was so shitty. It was less about the recoil and more about how the grip definitely felt like it belonged on a $150 dollar gun.

A little Makarov is my favorite conceal and carry gun, especially given that they are cheap and plentiful, you want .380 out of those because 9x18 surplus ammo is pretty much all steel-jacketed, meaning that it is classified as armor-piercing and thusly hard to come by at reasonable prices on the legal market.
