hollywood jargon smh. I have no idea what you're trying to say.
Yeah, let me try to simplify it.
I am attached to - as a lead writer - a production that shot a promo over the summer in order to sell the project to either a major or a production company. The director, who is actually a legitimate director with an actual feature under his belt, was actually attempting to sell a personal project, but left a rough cut of the promo with a production company.
Said production company
loved the promo, and I was told to ready my latest draft of a particular script (as well as protect it electronically with the WGA) for a pending sit-down meeting between the the production company and the producers I work for.
Huzzah.
Now I'm being told that the development people for this particular production company would like to read through scripts and project material, and then if they decide that they are
still interested, they'll call in the producers for a sit-down after Thanksgiving.
So, as you can see, the situation has already somewhat deteriorated. I know my script, along with extra material and a finished promo (they just recently scored the thing), has probably been sent over to their offices by now.
Will they like what they read and see? Who knows. Hollywood is a fickle mistress.
... The good news I was able to pull from this whole episode was that this all occurred without the producers trying to sell it; rather a director left a rough cut of the promo on his merry travels across Burbank. If a rough cut can elicit this type of response without anyone actually trying to sell the project, I think it bodes well for interest when actual pitch sessions are booked.
