so how bout that Avatar? Pretty great movie. I'm still pretty amazed at how awesome RealD is compared to IMAX 3D. During the scene where Jake was being chased by the Thanator there was a very natural depth to everything. It wasn't like I was watching Friday The 13th 3D where they shoved a metal rod into your face and went OOOOO 3D!! Just a normal scene that has that much more weight to it because I could see the character moving into the distance and it actually felt like he was moving away from me. Also I managed to get a few glimpses of Neytiri's nips in a few scenes.

I saw it first in legit IMAX 3D. But maybe that theater is just shitty. Or thats just how it is. No idea. And I'm not gonna go see anything else in IMAX 3D to confirm. The projection IMAX 3D technique pales in comparison to Digital RealD.

Nothing about the premise is original and the way it tells the story feels very, very formulaic and predictable. We went over this I think when this thread was in the 20's. For example, I was fine with Titanic, another three hour CGI-fest, because I thought Dicaprio and Winslet did were able to bring some charm. I felt nothing at all for any of the characters for three goddamn hours.

I was just confused because something like 2012 or Transformers can be considered a CGI fest. Titanic had: the boat itself. I can't really remember that much else that was CGI in that movie.

It had a blend of CGI and really authentic looking sets but yeah, it aws praised for how realistic and accurate everything was or whatever. It blew a lot of money basically.

I will never see Avatar, but if Glen really thinks that Lang's character is such an awesome character that reputable critics are raving about him, I'd love for him to show that more reputable critics think he's a great character than the ones that think the story and characters are pretty mediocre to awful altogether.

Why? Because I've seen scant praise for Lang, whereas almost all of it has been for Zoe Saldana, but Green Shinobi feels like trying to recover some kind of dignity he lost when comparing a shitty antagonist to raptors and robots.
