It's like Himuro and Borys are caught in a feedback loop of bad taste.
it's an experiment to see how many people they can convince of ffxii quality

That Crystal dungeon was fucking awful. So easy to get lost, and you couldn't at all rely on the map. Especially when you were wandering around looking for the secret summon that was hiding out there.

I never really had a hard time in FFXII. But that's because I was overlevelled most of the time.

I do remember being raped when I first discovered the necrohol of nabudis, though. My whole party just died in an instant. I grinded so hard to beat that place.

The last battle with Giglamesh was really hard. My hands were pouring with sweat. The battle took so long. I've beat him with one character standing in the end, because I didn't have the time to revive the others.
I think I was running the whole time during that fight while avoiding his attacks and doing a counter. Don't think I could've beat him and his shitty dog on a direct encounter.

Don't remember that zombie anymore..

Reddas leaves your party after Pharos. Pharos is indeed the REAL final dungeon. It's a 100 floor dungeon, some of the floors are skipped, so it feels more like 20 or so floors or whatever, but it's still huge. The final area of the game is essentially 3 rooms, thus Pharos is the true final dungeon.

You cannot leave Pharos to my knowledge.

When you beat Pharos, you can continue playing the game and then head to the final area if you want.

Glad you liked it.  It's a really nice game.

Even with all its problems it's one of my favorite FFs.  The art direction alone makes it worth playing.  Then there's all that other good stuff too.  And by the looks of it on youtube it seems like it has the worlds first good quality dub of a jrpg, which should make the experience that much more pleasant.

I don't think it's even worth anyone nitpicking it at this point in this thread.  The point is you got 170 hours worth of enjoyment and had a great time, so the game paid off for you and that's all that matters.

I did not beat God, didn't bother.

My wife cuts into my playing time 100% of the time. I can only play when she is not in the house and now she isn't as we have a total renovation.

Heh, sorry dude... didn't see them, my bad. I am more than strong enough to beat the game at this point but I figure, I spent so long playing already, what's 10-20 more hours, just to take care of the optional content?

RW is ok if you don't like real RTS games because they take too much effort and time.  RW is like super super dumbed down RTS for people with only 5-10 mins to do a map.  Plus it's really pretty and the music is nice though it's all just rehashed from FFXII.

I am that audience so I enjoyed it.

I got over my previous woes and finally started playing this, like three hours in. It's really good, I just wish some things went faster. The pauses between chunks of a stage really breaks the pacing. I can see gambits being really fun to tool around in, and I love the melodramatic presentation of it all. I'm sure this gets wacky jappy bullshit later on like every FF, but early on it's tight.

EDIT: I just realized Borys played this whole thing on an emulator. Would you like to share some tips on how to run it well? Every time I gave it a shot, I got audio pops all the time and that shit drove me nuts.

Fuck it I think I'll just stick to my PS2, wouldn't be able to transfer my save over anyhow.

Anyways, I'm definitely sticking with it, I love it a whole bunch, I just really wish it wasn't on the PS2. I fucking love the PS2, but the games that were coming out near the end of its lifespan were taxing the system so much they were barely playable.

Hey Fortus I spawned & killed it.

...
5) Go back to Edge of Reason and pray that you indeed have killed all monsters...

It took me exactly 1 try and 15 minutes to spawn him. The battle took 40 minutes though.

Now what? I don't have any new Hunts from Montblanc nor from any Notice Board. What gives?

Yeah that was my problem (I'm guessing). I always did a careful sweep but obviously something somewhere always gave me the slip OR I spent so much time being thorough that I would get a respawn somewhere before I zoned OR something something God hated me for spending so much time on a game. Congrats on the kill. If you want to get full bonus points try to garner the "secret" Guild rank ;) Hint: You not only have to do all the Hunts but you also have to get everything possible for the Pirate's Den

Just got to Bhujerba, 5:45 in. Oh my goodness so awesome. I don't know why people think Balthier is some badass. He's literally like an English version of Han Solo with a way hotter sidekick. Not to say he sucks, he's awesome, so is Fran, but I like Basch so much better.

EDIT: Also, I'm sure this gets better later on; but the way bosses are done in this game is weird as shit. Every other FF builds up boss battles and gets you hyped for them, in this game, they just kind of randomly appear.

I don't hate Vaan, but I don't care for him. I'm glad his character is at least evolving.

I'm a sucker for payback stories, so Basch's plotline is very exciting to me. Very Count of Monte Cristo-esque.

And yeah, Balthier is really hard to pin on the Good/Evil scale. But he really comes out like Han. A dick, but he doesn't care that he gets tied up in other people's problems. Maybe this changes later.

Who did the art direction for this game? I love the costumes and general theme. Part of the reason I like Basch is simply how fucking cool he looks. Balthier's pants :drool Fran's boobies :drool The music is also excellent, very Disney-ish in Rabanastre, which works in tandem with Vaan being like a sad rip-off of Aladdin.

EDIT: I have so much to say about this game I keep forgetting: I really love the battle system. I started with Wait, but once you know how to hunt through the menus, I moved up to Active and it's really smooth. I still wish it was a little more like KOTOR in that you can queue up multiple commands and pause whenever you want instead of going into the config menu, but still, it's really good.

About the bosses; I almost got wiped so hard against the Mimic Queen. I was owning her until she popped out that mega-move and everyone but Fran died. Thankfully I had some PDs, so I got Balthier and Vaan back up and we took her out pretty quick.

And yes, this is my first time. I had like one thing spoiled for me reading this thread, but I'm not sure I remember it, and I'm not gonna dig it up :lol

Oh and one more thing (I think I've edited this post 10 times), Hunts are tricky as fuck. I keep thinking I'm leveled enough to take them on as they come up, but I get rocked so hard.

Also, I like the LB a lot more than the Sphere Grid at this point because you don't even have to think about it. All of the battle gameplay is super-streamlined. You only really need to go into the LB when you're in town or you find a piece of equipment you want to use. I really like this a lot.

Borys, I think the reason the LB can get filled out completely is to let you choose how each character should be equipped to basically create custom classes. Yeah, you kind of end up with god characters once it's filled, but I like it. It's much smoother than the pacing-breaking "OK, post-battle, time to go into a menu and hunt around for 5-10 minutes"

As you probably know I have every license for every character filled.

Moreover Fran & Basch have 10 000(!!!) LP left.

The system IS broken in the long run.

Yeah that sounds pretty lol.

Btw I think I got stuck on the Leviathan. I don't have enough PDs and Potions to make it through, and my last save was on Bhujarba during the fucking "I'm Basch" quest fml

I don't understand how I'm getting owned, all my characters are level 10.

ps2.

Not fake. Use the Dustia trick. I leveled up from level 3 to 13 in just 10 or so minutes.

The Dustia also drops one of the best early game weapons, the flame staff. Has about 33 atk, and at level 13-14 that does a solid 150-200 dmg on average. This makes whopping enemies a matter target here, target there. Also the best early way to make cash. Couple that with skipping cutscenes but I just started over because I fucked something up and you got 3 hours clocked.

Flame staff is a good enough weapon to last until Raithwall when I can get Demonsbane swords.
