Yeah I picked it up too.  I still think the game will be boring like the demo, but since it's Criterion it should be worth at least $30.

meh. you haven't seen anything yet. Those are baby levels compared to later stuff. Game is good. Like an old school genesis throwback title but its pretty difficult. That's the fun of it.

I'm not generally into extremely hard games either but its not a secret at this point Splosion Man is pretty hard. Lots of people like Trials HD but I find that game impossible which decreases my enjoyment of the whole experience. At least you got this one essentially free.

But yeah, it only gets much harder from then on out and in some places the check point system isn't exactly generous so you may want to save yourself some frustration.

SOUNS LIKE HE MAD

Not really.  I just realized it was going to be frustrating and repetitive about two minutes into it, and thought that my money would have been better spent elsewhere.  It just seems like a lot of these indie games are made by people nostalgic for that period in your life where you had all the time in the world to tear your hair out and spend hours on a puzzle or a tricky jump.  I don't have a ton of free time anymore, I have a lot of games waiting on a backlog, and getting something right after trying it 100 times just doesn't give me the thrill that it did when I was a kid.  I'm a grown man now (2x over, even), and it just seems more like punishment than accomplishment.  Every hour I spend trying to get over a part in a game I am stuck on is an hour I could have spent enjoying another game.

I'm not saying they should dumb down their games or make them super-easy for everyone, but it would have been nice to have a mode I could have turned on that had "hit markers" on the walls for guidance, or something similar.  They could have turned off achievements for it, like I said I'm a grown-ass man and I don't give a shit about that stuff, I just want to enjoy their game too.

I got splosion man earlier too.  I played the demo earlier and didn't think it was worth full price, or the reduced price when it last went on sale, but $2 is a pack of gum.  I'm more annoyed that it ruined my point balance.  Now I have 18.20 cents or something in microsoft points.

With Fist, just get Hokuto Musou International next month.  I think it's going to be around $50, but that includes all the DLC, which would cost more than $20 for everything anyway.

Yeah but the thing is I don't care for the game much and wouldn't have bought any of the dlc.  It's not a game I actually really want to play.  It's a game that I'd play for a few days and sorta enjoy if I get it for $20.

Why bother, then?  Even at $20 that's a waste.

Because I sort of liked the demo.  Are you telling me there aren't any games you kind of enjoy but you wouldn't pay $40+ for?  There are lots for me.  Especially when it comes to anime/gundam games.  I liked the Hokuto demo because it lets me play out story from the manga and beat the crap out of dudes with badass moves.  Otoh the graphics are fucking horrible, the controls are stiff and the gameplay is shallow and often badly designed.  So it has plus/minus factors and therefore I'd like to play it for about $20.

I don't buy games I "don't actually really want to play" and would "play for a few days and sorta enjoy," no.  That sounds like a rental.  If even that.   The game had a shitty demo anyway.

I agree those kind of games are better as rentals, but I don't use gamefly and that's about the only choice in renting games.  So instead I just buy "rental" type games when they are cheap.  I do try to borrow games from friends if they get stuff day 1 that I wasn't that interested in but was curious about.  Going to borrow Castlevania at some point.

Picked up fallout: new vegas and just cause 2 for $65+tax.  This is the first year I'm not waiting in line at a brick and mortar store and shopping online instead for black friday.

If you haven't picked up a 360 yet, you might want to wait.  Dell has a 250GB+Kinect Slim bundle for $360 on Monday.  You could sell the kinect sensor and anything else you don't need for at least $150.

There's some Cyber Monday stuff going on right now.  Don't know if they've been claimed yet, but Phantasy Star Portable 2 is $14 and Valkyria II is $19 at Amazon.

I repurchased Splinter Cell Convictions for $13.

Saboteur sucks. Once you get over the interesting setting and colour/b&w dynamic it's the worst parts of every other sandbox game combined into one.

Besides the awesome fight on a zeppelin I found nothing redeeming about it. And I tried desperately to like it because I loved the setting.

The characters, the story missions, the climbing on rooftops and jumping on zip lines, the sabotage side activities, the cars, the music, the wanton destruction...

the shooting's not that great and sometimes the climbing gets bunged

not the greatest game in the world, but it has style to spare and isn't bogged down with having to go on dates or wade through an ocean of copy/pasted creatures

it's better than GTAIV and Crackdown 2, but not as good as RDR

In general I don't see the reason to buy a game at full price unless you want to play it that instant.  I mean, unless you really want to support the developer or think it will be hard to find (which never happens these days).

With how quickly prices have dropped this gen, waiting for a price cut seems to be the wise thing to do for games that you don't need to play immediately.  Since Red Dead Redemption, I've stopped buying games at release unless I'm absolutely sure that I'd be playing them in the next couple of days.  I got at least 10 console games that I've yet to open.  Most of them were bought at slightly discounted prices but they still cost way more than what they do now.

Well, actually yeah I was doing it to support good PC ports of X360/PS3 games.  Dunno if it helped, lol.
