We grew up in the late 80s/early 90s though. We weren't given hand outs or feminine cartoons. From a young age we were molded by strong male role models such as He-Man, Optimus Prime, Father Smurf, and Duke.
Boys today are molded to be sissies. I remember being so frustrated by Zelda games I almost cried, then remembered the words of Prime: Sometimes even the wisest of man or machine can make an error. I picked myself up by my bootstraps and manned up.
So no, don't blame the children of today. Blame the adults who made them this way.
