How was Gran Torino a racist movie smh

you wouldn't understand because you're white.

anyway it was racist because it was gratuitous with its slurs and didn't bother to really explain why they were given. it was just funny for the audience to hear the word "gook" and "zipperhead" all the time. teeheehee

it didn't know whether it was serious or funny, and it ended up not being either. it's in some weird eastwood vacuum, where he thinks awkward little asian boys really behave like they did in the movie. and the "twist" was no twist at all.

am nintendho thinks it was good, further lending credence to my argument.

Dumb argument. It's racist because a racist character in the film uses racial slurs? You must not have been paying attention because the movie is more about tolerance than slurs. And I loved how Eastwood's character didn't go through some cheesy baptism. In many ways he remains the same, holding similar beliefs, but he becomes more tolerant and understanding of different people.

What PD said. The message of the film is anything but racist.

That kid's acting at the end of Gran Torino when he was trapped in the basement made me hate all Asians.  Luckily all the people that work at Panda Express are Mexicans.

The slurs seriously got awkward after a while though. I also didn't understand how the people in the movie swallowed all of it (:smug) without complaining or beating his ass.
