Is that a typo? Grinch is up there but NOT Cat in the Hat? I thought it was clearly the opposite of which one was worse.
And 2012, National Treasure 2 and Saw movies are decent popcorn flicks for their audience. They're not abject failures like the rest of the list.

I think there were a few questionable omissions.

I disagree. All three are pretty much abysmal, awful films. The fact that they found an audience doesn't negate the fact that they suck.

How is step up on the list when Step up 2 is so much more worse?

At least Stomp the Yard is safe.

You watched both of them?  :wtf

While those are all some pretty bad movies, I find it kind of hard to believe that there were 100 movies that came out this decade worse than Lady in the Water and The Happening.  Also, Speed Racer should be in the top ten.

Stop trolling, Triumph.

Lady in the Water was pretty bad, but not list-worthy. I think The Happening should have been on the list, though.

I've watched many of these, and enjoyed them but have to agree they're crap movies. I liked the line of all numbers the best:

I've got your back on that. The Grinch was fun, and surprisingly well-adapted. The Cat in the Hat, oh good christ what a stinkfest.

No, Lady in the Water was pretty turrible.  Also, Speed Racer, to me, is one of the ten worst films of the decade for what it represents.

I also liked Flyboys.  It was a grand "Old Hollywood" WWI flick, and the dogfight scenes were amazing.

No, it's pretty much the pinnacle of "let's throw pretty looking shit on the screen to the exclusion of ALL ELSE (acting, writing, directing, whatever) and call it a movie" that I really, really dislike.  I mean, the first Saw flick is a better MOVIE than Speed Racer.

Yeah, the original saw was an interesting film that worked really well and didn't need a sequel. Unfortunately, it got a whole lot of shitty ones and will probably continue to until the end of time.

I found the second one watchable because of Wahlberg (real talk, better actor than his brother), but I never bothered with the ones past that

i might have seen one other, but i can't remember it

The second one is good too. But it's good for different reasons. Saw II started the whole "and watch the crazy way this guy is gonna die!!" concept which ruined the rest of the sequels. The plot wasn't as well put together and the twist at the end was silly. And yeah, Donnie Wahlberg is awesome.

Can you even remember the plot?  I know I can't.  I can't even remember who was in it besides Jude Law and Angelina Jolie.  And the ghost of Laurence Olivier.  As a technical experiment in green/blue screen technology it's okay, and I found the design work aesthetically pleasing, but I couldn't recite you a line of dialogue from that movie if my life depended on it.  Jude Law has all the natural charisma of a celery stalk.  You will not find a bigger fan of the time period and decco design on this board than me, but that movie was a snooze.  I was totally looking forward to it, and left thoroughly disappointed.

I saw Snakes on a Plane opening night and the guy who sat next to me was that guy.  He literally was squealing and constantly saying "it's coming up!" before that line.  When it actually happened, he threw his hands up and started yelling.  That was up there for bad theater experiences with watching Next Friday in a packed theater where my friend and I were the only white people there.

The last 40-50 include some movies that are at least fun to watch.  They're definitely not the WORST movies of the decade (I've seen the Sundance channel).

What I've noticed is that black people make good audiences that laugh at the appropriate times in white (Hangover, Knocked Up) comedies and vice versa for white people and black comedies (Undercover Brother, Friday).  I'd probably prefer to watch Coming to America with black people though.  A lot of whities don't find it that funny somehow.

Agreed. Lady in the Water is one of the worst written movies I've ever seen. The Happening...eh I laughed too much while watching so I can't slam it too much.

Is Cat Woman really worse than The Love Guru? The Love Guru is easily the worst movie I've seen this decade.

Maybe when he gets back you can talk with Glen Shinobi about how awesome Avatar was, sounds like your standards are roughly equivalent.

I also agree, it's a solid film. It has some kiddy elements that are totally grating if you're over the age of 12 (basically anything with Spirtle and Chim-Chim) but the overall package is deceptively mature.

I feel that's why it never found a proper audience. Too kiddy for adults, too adult for kids.

And I don't think you'll find anyone on the forum willing to nominate Speed Racer for Best Picture. It's appreciated by a handful as spectacle entertainment, and that's it - there's no desire to demand respect from the establishment in the form of serious awards consideration.

Yeah, what I love about Speed Racer isn't the "eye candy," it's the way that the visuals are pushed to the limit and beyond for a narrative purpose. It's really psychotic and avant-garde filmmaking and, and u dum

I don't think anyone will be confusing Avatar with avant-garde filmmaking, Maurice.

Dude, I've sat through the entire Cremaster Cycle.  I can appreciate "psychotic and avant-garde filmmaking" when I see it... and I guess we saw two different movies.  I will freely admit, however, that I went into the movie prepared to hate it and felt absolutely vindicated when I walked out.
