The little teaser thing just came on. I'll post a youtube link once one is up. As I expected it doesn't really show anything at all just like the early Modern warfare teaser videos. It's quick intercuts of game footage mtv splice style.

At first I thought it was just a spec ops DLC for mw2 but then I noticed that it doesn't say mw2 in the tittle, I also noticed the release date at the end of the video thats when I realized that it is the next COD.

Damn, that was quick, I'm not sure if I will manage to reach 10th prestige before the new game is out. they have to make it easier to prestige or I am just going to jump into a lobby and get done with it.

Also, they should do something about the kill streaks, they should divide them into two types. The first type is the regular one that we have in mw2 and the second type are ones that you can still get even if you died once.
This will make people not camp as much and can take more risks like capture flags and defuse when they are on a killstreak.

It seems like my favorite shotgun from mw2 will be in Black Ops too, Analysis of the trailer:

More guns that might be in the game (good song too :D )

It's Black Ops, man. It's not gnna be factual. They probably have laser sight missle launchers. Look at Modern Warfare 2 - they have all these weapons and the strongest gun is an antique shotgun.

I'm still not certain of the exact time period. I mean we know its Vietnam but I'm still not sure 100% if that means only Vietnam for the time period. Although at least for multiplayer it would sort of make sense to try to time period the weapons so you just don't have later weapons versus 50's and 60's weapons only.

I mean technically the Vietnam war stretches from like the mid 50's to the mid 70's. So it kind of depends a bit on what time bits they focus on.

Not to mention a lot of perks for example are conceptual in some cases.

Anyway here is a link of what some of the probable stuff to be.

it's been a constant grenade shower since the first modern warfare, to cover up the fact that the single player campaigns are like four hours long now

i thought the set pieces were really nice in W@W, and the storyline was decent (what little there was), but man those fucking grenades were annoying and really killed the enjoyment, fuckers would throw them at you from five feet away

problem with grenades in single player is that the enemy doesn't seem to have a limit.  I mean, it is easier for them to flush you out with grenades than do something complicated like flank your position or something.  light gun shooter, etc.

Treyarch has never been up to IW when it comes to creating a well scripted campaign with roller coaster moments. Not that their games are awful but they simply don't match up in comparison SP-wise although they do have the co-op stuff which is nice. World at War was alright SP but I doubt this one will suddenly be better than the IW games were but we'll see I guess.

As far as the multiplayer as long as they fix the spawning that plagued World at War and don't go crazy with the vehicles they insist on putting in the MP then I'm somewhat interested to experience that.

I played a tiny bit of WaW single player and hated it, but I did play the multiplayer beta on 360 and it was still great.  In the end, that is why people will be buying Black Ops and the devs seem competent at making a fun multiplayer mode.  I heard that nazi zombie mode was also decently popular, and it even had 4 player co-op for the whole game.

The co-op bit is nice and it had online match-making co-op which is really nice. They did a really nice job on making all the stuff in their game have online matchmaking which you have to tip your hat to them on because a lot of devs don't do that.

The single player in WaW was okay but it wasn't as good as even COD 4 and it certainly wasn't as good as MW2. The nazi zombie stuff doesn't interest me and I doubt it will interest me in Black Ops but other people seem to like it. I prefer something like Spec Ops personally.

I'm hoping the Vietnam change of scene inspires them to create a better SP. I have a bit more confidence in them on the MP side though. There were a lot of good ideas in WaW MP dragged down by a few annoying things. Fix those annoying things and you have the makings of a really great MP game.

FUCK YES! that level is godly. Roxanne and I played the shit outta that level. We were having a hell of a time with it right after you get the Intel. We thought it'd be ok to snipe the guys from the top of the hill before sliding down. Oh shit we were so fucking wrong. Once the gong went off its like "OH SHIT JUG" we ended up getting two of them rushing at us from behind. Totally unexpected and fucked us up royally. Favela is another great level with the 10 Jugs.

Another great level is the No Russian level in the airport. The waves of bad ass shield bitches just waiting for my knife. We did the whole level without using guns. Just explosives and knives for the fuck of it.

And veteran is just right it makes you feel like you accomplish something when you play a game that most consider hard. I was trying to help my nephew out with Spec ops and he bitched out on me, little fucker couldn't handle veteran.

Most of the recent news surrounding the Call of Duty franchise has involved the controversial departures at Infinity Ward. But now we have a new Call of Duty game to drool over, developed by the good people at Treyarch. Call of Duty: Black Ops debuted with a teaser trailer earlier this month and now we know when we'll see even more of the title.

We recently learned that on May 18th during the NBA Eastern Conference Finals on ESPN we'll see an official "reveal" trailer of Black Ops on television. Will you tune in to check out the trailer even though LeBron has been knocked out of the playoffs?

They did a similar thing with Modern Warfare during the playoffs last year and it was a lengthy 1 minute commercial cut from a 2 minute trailer. Hopefully it will be the same situation here.

Interest rising...

Quote
OXM’s Call of Duty: Black Ops cover feature has been stripped of information. Head inside, soldier. The magazine says, “You’re not just relegated to mini-gun man who holds down the trigger and nudges the aiming reticle around the screen. For once, you’re flying the helicopter. And firing the missiles. And the mini-guns.”Other stuff:- You will be fighting the North Vietnamese Army in certain missions.- You’re an off-the-grid, best-of-the-best badass with a more important secret agenda.- Vehicles will return, but “not in the way you remember them from WaW”.- There will be “dedicated co-op” with separate levels. Treyarch changed the subject when the mag asked about World at War’s hugely popular Nazi Zombies.- A multiplayer beta’s being “considered.”- Treyarch will be improving mulitplayer by taking on feedback – even going so far as to openly acknowledge the under-the-map glitches that initially plagued World at War.- Changes are being made to the matchmaking to “make it easier for [players] to get into games with their friends.”- Multiplayer was up and running so early that some campaign levels were actually built from multiplayer maps.- Create-a-Class 2.0 will allow you to customise yourself like never before. This should include kit and appearance items as well as perks.OXM seems very excited about the game, saying, “The evolution Treyarch has undergone between World at War and Black Ops feels very familiar. In fact, we don’t have to look far to figure it out. We saw this exact kind of “oh-ha!” corner-turning in game design and execution from this very franchise back when Infinity Ward leapt from A-list to the AAA-list between CoD2 and the first Modern Warfare.”The developer also seems excited about the game, with Treyarch boss Mark Lamia saying, “We’ve taken some creative risks… We want to do something different than we’ve done before. It’s time… We want the game to speak for itself.”

lulz. To be fair all previews read like that. Completely sycophantic.

I'm always skeptical about Treyarch. They haven't really exhibited the balls to step out of the shadow in a meaningful way. Although I'm quietly optimistic that maybe they have really put the effort into this one.

I really hope that they keep a light weight perk in black ops because I love rushing and switching my gamestyle from time to time. It seems like many people don't want it and would prefer a boring version of counter strike instead where they just camp their asses in a building just to increase their k/d ratios wings of redemption style.

So this is what some people want:
No lightweight, no marathon, no sleight of hand, no commando, no last stand, no final stand, no pain killer, no martyrdom, no heartbeat sensor, no noobtubes, no rocket launchers, no secondary shotguns or SMGs, no akimbos, no riot shields, no care packages, no air support, no nukes.
What they want:
Ability to choose maps and to not join games in progress, harder to use weapons, more recoil, more sway and no ''overpowered weapons''.
Why?
So that they can play ''strategically'', as in camp in their favorite corner and wait for the other guy to go around the corner, so that they can shoot him using the same and only weapon that they have ever used and mastered, before he gets a chance to fire at them with his unbalanced combos.
Why I don't want that?
What I like about mw2 is that almost each and every match I play feels like a new game or at least a match that I haven't experienced before. I have to counter and adjust my game style to the different strategies in order to win or at least survive the match. Not knowing what is going to happen to me the next moment yet I try my best to be prepared for it.
Reducing the variety of the different different possible gamestyles would make this a boring game of first see/squeeze the trigger first wins, and its not something that find joy in playing.
This alone and talking shit about good developers vs evil developers and asking for boycotts is a whole other thing that irritates me too.
End of rant.

WaW sold like 10M copies. It deserved them be honest.
But it wasn't in vietnam.....it was violent as fuck but it was a war that we (well not you) won.

Personally I'd have more interest in this game's co-op/spec-pops mode than it's campaign, from a fun standpoint at least.  However, I did really like the violent stuff in WaW so it'll probably have a decent campaign.

Nope, first CoD I will start on Vet. Shouldn't be too hard as every CoD since 4 is easier on Veteran since the last one. I read that WaW's grenade spam was nowhere to be found in MW2 and MW2 was just overall easy.

Did you actually boycott MW2, Borys? my god, i thought all that was just fanboy banter.

It was for most people.

MW 2 hasn't left the top seller page on Steam since it was released.

Looks like Modern Warfare 2. Better sell my copy while the market is high.
