360 vs PS3 hardware = 360 vs PS3 MW2. Funny.

But it's sad how polluted the top games list is with the same Nintendo junk. I've learned to filter and ignore Mario Kart, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, etc.

Wasn't EA gloating about how they shipped 2 million copies of Mass Effect 2 in its first week?  These are six days of sales.  Were they including european shipments in that press release?

Maybe once Japan and such is factored in there will be a Bayonetta sequel. It's probably in the top 20 if not top 15. That game was always going to be a hard sell in America. It looks very Japanese which is a turnoff in this market. Americans like their action brawlers to sort of look and feel like God of War.

I played the japanese PS3 demo and felt the game was about flash more than substance. Like if Devil May Cry had constant Maxim-ish nudity and even more scripted attack sequences.
Nothing inherently WRONG with it, but after the second time she lost all her clothes and did the exact same maneuver I got bored. Kinda like Gungrave.
I didn't feel like I had CONTROL of what was going on, rather it was presented TO me.

Its a bad series on the decline.

It is cliche, but the demo is not a good representation of the final game.

So you're saying the game isn't about a sexy woman who's like Dante? It's not a bad thing, but...

Bayonetta -> DMC4
Darksiders - > Zelda
Dante's Inferno -> God of War

When games change camera perspective to show off the move, it takes you out of the moment if you stop realizing you're not the character. It's jarring, really.

I might pick it up when it hits the bargain bin. (Sooner than later) But I actually did enjoy playing a bit of AoT:40th Day with a friend, although it does have obvious flaws. (Certain checkpoint placement is distinguished mentally-challenged)

The upside to all of this is that there is solid proof that not all publishers should jam all of their flagship wares during the last three months of the year.  Maybe we'll start seeing a more even distribution of big titles throughout the year.

Edit: I'd be curious to see how Bayonetta sold 1.1 million.  Even if it is shipped, that means there is a lot of unsold copies out there.

Love to see folks bashing Bayonetta, most of them basing their bashing on either a quick playthrough of the demo or being somehow "embarrassed" by the game's aesthetics.  Makes it easy to figure out whose opinions to ignore on games in the future.

Reason #354645131431 why if you are not making a Nintendo 1st party game, a Madden/Fifa game, or a Call of Duty game your budget manager should cap your game budget at <5 million or he's doing a bad job.

Or you can be like Japan where they know they're fucked and so the average budget for a game is ~500k

Except for the fact that game budgets require releases on BOTH platforms now to make it viable. A slight lead means nothing.
