The Japanese (or US ones, whichever side you're familiar with) releases just feel like fodder.  Yes, Shattered Soldier should be on there too.   And especially Hard Corps: Uprising as well.  Hell, even the shitty Contra Adventure and Legacy of War.  Oh Konami and they're weak attempts to pacify their past fans.

Frozenbyte going ham. Reminds me of the space game Notch wanted to make that never actually went anywhere.

Contra IV for DS needs to be on there.  Wayforward did a great job with that one.

i watched one of those early 3d contras recently (whatever one ended with a boss fight on a tiny planet) and it wasn't THAT bad. it sure wasn't a very good game and it sure as hell wasn't anywhere near the quality of what had come before, but it wasn't the unplayable mess i'd been led to believe it was.

I'll be honest, as much as it enticed me being pseudo 2.5D back then, I never played Contra Adventure...  Just pulled up this old IGN review....  :lol

https://www.ign.com/articles/1998/09/17/c-the-contra-adventure

Needless to say, they gave it a 1.0 :holeup

Wasn't it on PC for a while? I played Forza 4 with its free month (and then canceled, because there were, like, 4 other games).

Yeah it was technically on PC but it was a couple of first-party games and Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. This is an actual push with a bunch of games and it seems it'll be more than just console ports since they are getting Paradox in on it too.

Also MS announced they'll be putting first party titles on Steam & other stores and they'll be rolling back the dumb overly restrictive issues with games on their store as well.

Eh, at this point they are finally doing what people ask: putting all their first party stuff on Steam (and EGS and maybe Humble too?). Seems fine to me. And they're still keeping people in the MS system with Game Pass...seems pretty reasonable to me.

My "fear" is they'll change their mind 3 games in.
If they do go through with it, it'd be a good deal for sure.

When does this start? I will grab this again for the next $1/month discount. Every time they do this I look at the available PC games and it's nothing outside Forza 4 & Gears 4 and Crackdown 3. Lots of indie stuff on the Xbox version that I'd like to play and would sub for if they're available on PC.

so june 9 for more info i guess

edit: just saw that wargroove was added as a play anywhere title to gamepass so if you still have a sub, you'll get it on pc. if you liked advance wars it's the perfect follow up :lawd

The Xbox One X(TM) is a great console and actually one of my favorite consoles ever. Playing Resident Evil 2 or really anything in 4K HDR on OLED just looks and feels so smooth.

Yet, it would be even better if Microsoft had some first party output 'coded to the metal' as well.

Also, the visual fidelity of the new COD game is... unbelievable. Literally.
Call of Duty's texture work has always been underrated imo

Everyone's always whined about the engine for some reason, but the texture density and variety has always been great. Makes even other AAA games look like N64 titles sometimes with the repeated/large textures. IW did silly things that only they could afford in MW3 and Ghosts like not repeat brick textures because what they were recreating were locations that have old imperfect brickwork. :lol

That's the problem with most of this stuff.

I have a misprinted cartridge of some Disney NES game. It is worth 'a lot' of money according to the collectors.
But no one is willing to put down that ammount for it.

You can have a Pristine 10 Charizard, the only one in existence. But who will pay you 30k for it?
Sometimes it is better to have the collectible items that are a bit more common but still valuable.
The A-tier stuff sells more easily than the S-tier stuff.

I'd be happy to sell it for 3k (hell, even 300 dollar for a Pokemon card i didn't give a shit about 10 minutes ago, would be pretty sweet.)

There’s a Polygon review of a PS3 game where the dude talks about how many times the game made him cry.

I wanna say it was that “Flower” game?

Are you sure it wasn't a David Cage game? And the dude reviewing the game wasn't David Cage?

- shimmying through cracks or hanging on ledges. this is clearly just a way to show off your animation team's talent but adds nothing to the game.

Half the time it's used to hide load times.

I also feel like it’s a replacement for the “force field arrives so you can’t run away from this battle” mechanic.

Watchdog 3 thing

I can only hope it's as woke as Watch_Dogs 2. Having the black character being the first and only one killed'll always make me laugh. They don't even acknowledge the dude in the ending in which they do a "What did we learn today?" video.

Amazing.

I loved WD2 so much. If WD3 continues that direction of self-awareness/parody with likeable characters in a cool colorful city I'm in.

If they try to go back to the darker serious tone of WD1 and London is all grey and foggy and washed out I'll pass. Already did a pretty good London in AC Syndicate.

Been working on a storage room/game room this year. It started as a 14x16 metal storage building and now the interior is almost finished out, got a few minor things left but it's far enough along to start using it:

I'll trust you on your gameplay assessment though TPS with some bland cover mechanics doesn't hype me (on video).

The story is garbage tier though, even without judging it in the context of PE1 and 2. It's illegible in the most literal sense.

It's been too long so I don't really remember how it plays, but I remember there was some good arpg/combo mechanics and it's not just a cover shooter. I enjoyed the game tbh at the time. It wasn't great but it was fun enough to get me through it. But like I said I'm not really a big fan of PE1/2 (they were ok), so I had zero expectations and could enjoy it as a dumb little psp time-waster.

I mean it's like MGS: Portable Ops. Gameplay-wise Portable Ops isn't that good by console standards, but for a handheld game at the time it was fun enough to play. Lowered expectations for handheld gaming.
