Versus looks good.  Hope it's like Xenoblade exploration with KH battle system.  But probably more like DQVIII with KH battle system, which is fine too.

Picked up SOTN during the XBLA sale last week.  Do I need to be concerned about burn-in on my plasma TV when playing games that use framing to correct the aspect ratio?  The vertical bars for SOTN are kinda bright and static and I definitely noticed some image retention after playing for a little while.

I guess I could just warp the ratio so I don't have to worry about it, but it looks hideous.  :yuck

Absolutely, despite what plasma aficionados claim, even the best plasmas are at risk for burn-in.  It's best to play for 2 hrs max and switch to something else for a bit.

Is that only applicable when it's still being broken in or is there always a somewhat high risk of burn-in regardless? Probably a stupid question, but I've never owned a plasma and I'm curious

Always, even owners of Pioneer Kuros have reported slight burn-in after playing games with constant huds all day.

Agreed. That's what I do when I play Raiden Fighters Aces. When playing the Ultimate Genesis Collection, I stretch every game to fit the screen.

started playing Mass Effect 2 earlier. And straight off the bat I get this Star Wars space battle with zooming noises and huge spaceships doing "evasive maneuvers". Then I get poorly cut scenes of 'waking up', stilted dialog where my 'choices' obviously only change a few words at the start of the sentence, accompanied by awkward animations probably meant to punctuate emotion, but ends up looking aaaaaaaaaass.

Like, I get that I'm a hater, I dislike almost everything I play, but gawd damn... I wanted some in depth dialog system and passable shooty shooty. Isn't that why people peed themselves reviewing this game? because there actually was a dialog system? Is there more divergence in the dialog system later?

The only real choice I've been prompted in the dialog thus far is whether or not we took the purple helmet dude back to our ship or gave him to some lady that apparently knew Shepard. Now, RIGHT BEFORE I WAS PROMPTED TO CHOOSE the purple helmet girl says that I can have the omni-tool with all the data as long as she gets the purple helmet dude, but the choice was 'give the dude up' or 'take the dude'. Why not present me with the option that she just proposed? seemed like it would satiate both parties, but I ended up taking an extreme stance and she got pissy and did an animation that I suppose was supposed to be, like, a 'shake fist angrily' at me or something - guess she doesn't like me now.

Yeah, apparently between piracy and oversaturated market, your average non-big-name 3rd party ds title is ultra bomba in the US and the reason why a lot of JP ds games are staying in JP.  No wonder western developers stay away from handhelds when there is no viable handheld platform at the moment.  I wonder if 3DS has the power to change things, or if it'll be just as bad.

I'd like to hear your impressions on this. I've had the English-patched rom sitting on my hard drive for a while but haven't really heard much about it one way or the other, so at the moment most of the more recent stuff in my backlog takes priority. I never actually played a whole lot of 12, for what it's worth

FF12i from all reports indicates it was the game ff12 should have been. Includes job system, better game balance, controllable "npc" characters, better license boards;etc

The only problem that still persists seems to be flawed story but from what I've heard and seen it seems like best FF ever

Well.

FFXII has two flaws, the fact that the story was unfinished by Matsuno and so it starts off totally awesome and ends up with a guy with giant metal wings or something and is distinguished mentally-challenged.
Then the gameplay flaws were things like all the characters being too much the same.

FFXIIi fixes the gameplay stuff for the most part.  But doesn't do anything to fix the plot.

What really would happen in a perfect world is Matsuno would get back together with SE and make FFXII Directors Cut for the PS3/X360 that is FFXII naively rendered at 1080p with 4x AA and the 2nd half of the story restored to Matsuno's original vision with all new cutscenes, dungeons, etc..

Never gonna happen.

It undoes a lot of the problems I didn't like in the original.  I'm almost done w/ the walkthrough I'm doing, including pictures of good stuff to get, if you do decide to give it a whirl.  Streaming it as I play, but it is very, very slow going, and an RPG, in Japanese, so yeah, pretty dull.

Great if you can't fall asleep though.

http://www.siliconera.com/2010/06/29/nis-americas-president-on-anime-crossovers-sakura-wars-and-ps3-development/#comments

Summary Stolen from GAF

- deal is almost done in bringing NEPTUNE over to N.A. and Europe
- no plans to develop for XBOX 360
- close to Sony so didn't have a high priority with Nintendo when it comes to 3DS dev kit
- Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love didn't meet expectations sales-wise
- SCEA rejected Sakura Wars 1+2 PSP so it's never coming over
- Last Rebellion sucked, he is sorry for releasing it, and Hitmaker should work with other companies to "improve their skills"
- Not sure if they will release Imageepoch PSP games outside of Japan
- He smiled and made finger crossing motion when asked about Zettai Hero and Classic Dungeon PSP coming over
- Almost all new titles in development are for PS3
- Interested in Zettai Hero sequel
- When asked about Disgaea 4, he said to ask him again at TGS

@ bold: Sorry Ichirou, you didn't pimp hard enough.

Seems there will be a Disgaea 4 at TGS
