Its production values are unrivaled, music is awesome... it's a great game with flaws in its weapons leveling system. Hopefully these issues will be ironed out in the XBLA release.

APB servers going down 2morrow it looks like

Quote
Cops vs crooks MMO APB might be throwing in the towel tomorrow, according to multiple sources close to developer Realtime Worlds, reported by our occasional drinking buddy, EDGE*.

The game is no longer available via Steam and according to one fan posting on the official forums, it was pulled from “the shops” a week ago. Places like Amazon are listing it as in stock, but we’d recommend waiting to see what happens – shutting the servers down wouldn’t make all the discs vanish from Amazon’s warehouses, after all.

UPDATE: It’s official.

“APB has been a fantastic journey, but unfortunately that journey has come to a premature end. Today we are sad to announce that despite everyone’s best efforts to keep the service running; APB is coming to a close. It’s been a pleasure working on APB and with all its players. Together we were building an absolutely amazing game, and for that, we thank you. You guys are awesome!

From all of the Realtime World staff we thank you for your continued support.

The servers are still up, so join the party and say goodbye!

- Ben ‘APBMonkey’ Bateman (Community Officer)”

Isn't Chronicles of Spellborn still available as a free game with a full relaunch sometime in the future?

That was the plan, but Acclaim basically abandoned it after that and it eventually shutdown completely in August.

F1 2010 getting high praise from Edge

http://www.next-gen.biz/features/formula-1-2010-review?page=0%2C0

Quote
Nevertheless, F1 2010 remains a game to be uttered in the same breath as Crammond’s Formula One Grand Prix, Bizarre Creations’ Formula 1 ‘97, and Ayrton Senna’s Super Monaco GP II. Different games, historic games, yet games which found their own ways to express the feel of Formula 1: the blurring scenery, fleeting thoughts and rushing blood. Final Execution And Resurrection? Pretty much. [8]

yep,i make an exception for N1 since their game are all about power-leveling,collecting shit and all the cool stuff that makes normal rpg cool, they are super fast when played with the animation disabled (and also takes little tricks like moving enemies unit all at once!) and the plot is usualy pretty good too

other SRPG are about slowly moving troops around a board and watching yet another plot about war unfold, bleh! :yuck

regrettably

best thing about it so far is that I learned the new Time Crisis lets me use my Guncon 3 :rock

but it is really just the wii.  I mostly just picked it up for ping pong and that is fun.

and some of the games require a chunk of space to use.  Everything on PS3 Sports seems like it needs 5 to 8 feet minimum.  The other problem is that you can't really trick it.  There is a demo for a shooting game called "The Shoot" (not a joke) and they expect you to jump spin in place.  yeah, fuck that.

and the light is really annoying and the battery life seems awful

Give Echochrome 2 impressions whenever it's out.  Game looks neat!

I have the demo and wanted to try it, but as I mentioned earlier, the battery seems pretty bad.  It's an internal battery so you can't swap it when it runs low, and because it is all about swinging it around, it doesn't let you charge it and use it at the same time.

I tried (most of these are demos):
The Shoot:  surprisingly fun lightgun shooter
Start The Party:  It's an eyetoy-ish thing.  Cool augmented reality stuff, though.
Time Crisis: uh, it you had a machine gun and were shooting arabs and mechs I think
Beat Sketcher:  it's a painting application...yeah
Tumble:  you stack blocks.  has cool 1:1 feeling controls when you stack the box.  got boring quickly.

PS3 Sports ping pong:  awesome.  I just wish I had more space to play.  walking around the room in real life and having the paddle reflect that on screen is neat
PS3 Sports gladiator:  started out thinking it was shit, enjoyed it for a two minutes, ended thinking it was shit.

I say it's like the Wii, but it is more like what the Wii promised to do back in 2005 or 2006.  The 1:1 stuff they were talking up seems legit at least.  In the painting game, it feels like you're painting on a window and you really need to be reaching around and not just moving your wrist.  But in general the pointer controls feel better than the Wii to me; I say in general because not every game is the same.  I think it is cool hardware for the most part but who knows if anything good will come of it.  It's been a year or so since Motion Plus and there is nothing there.

Actually, other than ping pong, the best part is the western quickdraw bit in The Shoot.  It's hard to explain why it was cool.

linkzg is a idiot and is not giving good impressions. xmb usage is awesome, sports champions is amazing.

i bet linkzg likes kinect interface

you'd lose that bet, big boy.

Wii loses again

http://www.1up.com/news/report-muramasa-odin-sphere-high-definition

Quote
Two cult favorites may soon be getting high-definition ports.

1UP has heard from sources here in Japan that Vanillaware will be releasing Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Odin Sphere as downloadable ports. No word on which consoles, but it's reasonable to assume that they will appear on both PSN and Xbox Live Arcade.

Odin Sphere was originally developed as a PS2 games, while Muramasa was a Wii title. Both are known for their lush, hand-drawn visuals, which should translate well to high-definition consoles. Our sources tell us that Muramasa's assets were developed in HD first, which should make for a relatively easy port.

Treat this as a rumor for now, but we've heard from multiple sources that this is going to be happening, so keep an eye out.

Kinect is hot thing at TGS

Quote
Microsoft's new "Kinect" full-body motion-sensing system for the "Xbox 360" console, set to go on sale on Nov. 20 (suggested retail price: 14,800 yen), enables users to manipulate characters in games without using controllers. Virtual bowling and river rafting were highly popular at the Microsoft booth, causing visitors to spend up to two hours to wait to try the games.
