I've got nothing against whimsy, in fact, most of the time I adore it.

OoT re-re-re-re-release mk MMXI however leaves me entirely cold. Oh well. Abortions for some, miniature american flags for others.

Still the best game opening ever, I get so nostalgic everytime I hear it.

I hate OoT so fucking much, but the opening is great. Perfect blend of music and visuals. It's a shame the game is complete shit

Thieves take anything and everything with a perceived value. Mike Fahey is just using a robbery scenario to say "THE WII IS SO SHITTY, PEOPLE WONT EVEN STEAL IT! GOOD THING NINTENDO IS GOING HARDCORE!"

exactly my point

Quote
PS3 has some value as a BR player and a paper-weight. The Wii would just tumble over with a slight breeze.

Yep, best thing about the Wii is that it's the best console for playing old games (since it does 240p and native 15khz).

I cant believe people are crying over the Obsidian layoffs. Guys, we PLAYED alpha protocal and Vegas. They were pretty crappy, nigh shitty. Dungeon Siege 3 is only going to cement that.

Get it through your heads.

I've enjoyed all of Obsidian's games. Looking forward to DS3.

These layoffs are probably coming as a result of DS3 nearing gold status and, as far as I know, they don't have anything else in development [or at least far enough in development to be announced or even hinted at]. New Vegas did pretty well sale-wise, so they're probably still okay as long as DS3 isn't a huge bomb [which it could very well be].

Not much of an Obsidian fan so outside of general sympathy for anybody that loses their job, I have no special affection for them.

Split Second 2 would be cool. I did like the original. And I'd to see some more mechanics added to it.

Isn't Obsidian the remains of the people who made Planescape and the original 2 Fallout games? I've never played any games under the Obsidian moniker but I loved those oldskool PC RPGs.

Also quick question:

I've always been curious about the Assassin's Creed series - the historical settings in particular. Even though I was disappointed that the games were more free-roaming instead of Prince of Persia-style puzzle platformers. What would be a good game in the series to start with? The Middle Eastern setting of game 1 interests me much more (I bring shame to my heritage  :-\), but I hear that the first game is really repetitive and boring.

it is and DO NOT listen to anyone who says otherwise.  THERE IS NOTHING TO DO IN THE GAME.  THAT IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION.  dunno how the other games are but there's NO WAY they could be worse than the first one.

That's the thing I just don't get about Obsidian. They can make quality games. Playing through all of their games you can definitely see glimpses of insight on how awesome things could have been if thoroughly done to the end, but every single time, they never seem to be able to pull through. After KOTOR2 I thought it was just a one-time thing, but they've done it to AP and Vegas now and probably  Dungeon Siege 3 is going to turn out the same way even though the trailers and previews so far sound really cool.

And I can't explain why other than there are some really inadept or really inefficient people working at Obsidian causing them to never be able to fully realize their projects. Hopefully some of the people laid off were more of those types.

Well they just announced their next game

Next games. Labyrinth no Kanata is a 3DS game and is also apparently by tri-Ace. Both are being published by Konami.

At first I thought tri-Ace sent their Covenant of the Plume team for Frontier Gate... but now with two portable games, have they finally wizened up like all other JRPG devs this generation and made the leap to portables?

Curious to find out what other team is doing the other game. Though I suspect it's the VP/RoF team, and the horrible SO team is the one who made the tech demo and is off getting SO5 ready, yay :/

Wonder what the IU team is up to...

Actually, the best news tonight is that Nudemaker is back!  :omg  And they're making a PSP game, Senritsu no Status!

-Hifumi Kouno is director again, and Mukaitouge Shingo (Elebits, pop'n music, beatmania IIDX) is producer.
-Enami Katsumi (Baccano, SO4, Zero no Kiseki) is the character designer. And there's anime cutscenes done by Satelight.
-Genre is Action AVG... hopefully we get another something like Infinite Space!  :hyper

It is. I played it all the way through, but the last half of that time was like pulling teeth. The last mission in particular is a monotonous battle-fest that NO-ONE should have EVER thought was a good idea.

The second one is more compelling; its missions are less rigid and more varied, so it doesn't feel like you're doing the SAME FOUR THINGS over and over. It's odd, the core gameplay is the same, but they improved on everything in AC2.

Telltale Games is currently developing games for Xbox 360, the studio has announced.

Recent titles such as Back to the Future, Puzzle Agent and Tales of Monkey Island have all side-stepped the platform in favour of iOS, PC, PlayStation 3 and/or WiiWare.

However, the developer confirmed on its Twitter feed that it was now working with Microsoft again.

"We're very excited to announce that we are officially publishing games for the XBox 360! We will still be coming to other platforms as well," read one Tweet.

"No announcements on what's coming to the XBox 360 from us yet but we have some exciting stuff in store! Stay tuned!" followed another.
