I used to love Valve, man, it used to be beautiful. But I can't put up with this shit anymore. Like Biz said earlier, their last full-length game was Half Life 2. What the fuck!?

Took Valve 6 years to make Half Life 2. It is how it is. They make game slow but they make games goood.

They've just started to beef CS Source so why would they announce CS2?

I didn't say I love Valve in that post. I'm merely being realistic.

Honestly 4 hours is all I need for a good game so long as the pacing is tight.

Also, Half Life 2 was too long. Half Life episode 1/2 length please.

You mean, not six hours long? Because if I pay fifty or sixty bucks for a game, it better be fucking longer than that.

I loved HL2, and I loved the length, and I thought it was paced well. HL2 Episodes I and II were good too, but that's because it was under 50 bucks. Same with Portal.

If you are going to make a game, make it worth my time to pay full price for it. Other than that, I'll be waiting until its cheap or rent it.

Portal was a puzzle game (or action puzzle game, w/e).  They could still have a relatively short main game and have a another mode with a bunch of Portal 1 style puzzle rooms to complete.  There is that co-op mode too.  I don't think it will be a problem.

I thought Portal was a really fun and neat concept and a good game. But honestly unless this game is radically expanded there is no way I could see them charging $60 dollars for it on a console.

I thought it was great as part of a package like in the orange box or as an XBLA title but its hard for me to see it as a full priced game.

have you ever played tag the power of paint? they took in the guys who made that.  the mechanics are very similar.  In that game, one color let you speed up, one made you jump, one made you stick to it.  You could combo them like speed and jump to do long jump.

three good videos about the game in general

it seems like they're saying the single player is roughly double the first game.  Multiplayer (co-op) is the same length as single player and a totally different game.

He has to maintain his weight somehow,Sony money should be enough for about a year.

And then he can show L4D3

What's with the bagging on Gabe?

Sony opened up their platform and it is apparent that SteamWorks running on PS3 will mean I can play Portal 2 on PS3, Windows and Mac using exactly the same save, cooping with players on any platform, whereas the 360 version will be isolated from the rest, like a ginger-haired school kid in the playground.

You should be bagging on MS, not Gabe.

Because...next year,L4D3...year after Portal 3...then L4D4

Half-life games take long time to make...so it's much easier to go with this yearly cheap stuff
Half-Life 2 was released in 2004

I just want to play Half-Life 3 :(...selfish thing,i know...

Of course,their franchise,their business,but that doesn't mean that I can't be disappointed.

Valve makes fuck-tons of money, and not only that, they could go hogwild on the budget of Episode 3 and not even reach the average budget of current blockbuster titles. This isn't 3DRealms, this is Valve. They know what they're doing, it's just annoying that they delay/postpone/cancel/revive/buy out/cancel again/revive again/delay every fucking game they make.

The most amazing stuff about P2 is how GLaDOS is constantly rebuilding the rooms around. It looks f-g scary like from Silent Hill.
No shit.  That looks absolutely wicked.  I can't believe how far they've pushed the Source engine.  Looks substantially better than any of their previous games.  Can't wait to see what else they build with this new engine.

Yeah, if anything it seems like Gabe got exactly what he wanted. He bagged on the PS3, then Sony's like "Hey man, we need those games, so we're going to open the PS3 to Steam and give you a pile of monies" and Gabe's like :pimp.

Eel, let's you and I posse up, and ride down these "portal was easy" bitches. It's not "an hour" and it's not easy. It's smart, it's one of the few puzzle games I've ever finished without resorting to a FAQ, and that came from tuning it for 3 years of development or whatever it was. It's not "easy," it's well-designed. But there are things you can do to fuck that balance right in its ear, like taking off the auto-align in the Options.

I had cleared one level dirt-simple, the one with the acid-floored room where you have to use platforming-like progress to jump up them like stairs. First time, easy-peasy, but on the second play-through I could not clear it. Just took me right past the edge of sanity. Turns out that auto-align was off, so it kept my sideways velocity instead of aligning perpendicular to the exit.

So everyone here has Vanilla Crazy Cake; is that what I'm hearing? And you all got it without The YouTube you youngsters are all so fond of?

Sorry grandpa, Portal is easy. No auto-align here, no FAQs, beat that shit like a rented mule. Not saying it's easy for everyone, but as a puzzle platforming master, Portal is easy. I played it the minute it was unlocked at midnight and beat it in that one sitting in just over 3 hours.

This isn't a knock against Portal, I love it, but it's easy.

At least I'm comfortable with my penis, Ma'am.

Auto-align is on by default; unless you messed with the options, you were benefiting from it all along. Beating it in three hours is impressive, but you didn't answer whether or not you'd also solved all the challenge modes and qualified for Vanilla Crazy Cake.

No I didn't do the challenges, talking about the main game. Challenges are still pretty easy, albeit tougher.

And I did mess with the settings, I'm a PC gamer. I click Options when I start a game, not New Game.

so, the Portal 2 PS3 steam stuff was talked about and there is a thread on it: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=419049

it seems like if you buy Portal 2 on PS3, you can link your steam account to PSN and unlock Portal 2 for PC/Steam as well.  There is also cross platform play and your steam friends list on the ps3, cross chat, and cloud saving on the ps3.
