The 5th dungeon boss is fucking insane.  I've given him half a dozen shots and I still haven't killed him.

 :hyper

Welcome to when the game gets real
Outside a a boss or two, this is the difficulty more or less of the rest of the entire game :)

Get together some good demons with strong attacks, good healing.  King Frost is almost a must.  Don't worry about alignments at all for this guy.

I think I'll need to make a King Frost to finish the 5th boss.  Which floor in the 3rd dungeon is the quest giver, magus?

I am frustrated but I'm still enjoying it alot.  I have tried about 4 different lineups and nothing has flown so far.  Much better than mashing A for 40 hours.  :lol

Yeah, the challenge is the fun type.  I really liked SJ because of bosses like this.  This is why I said it was the hardest megaten since Nocturne :P  There was nothing on this level in P3/P4, DDS1/2, Raidou1/2.  This is a real challenge with no easy solution and it's damn satisfying when you come out victorious in this fight.

ehy bebpo is there anything i'm missing with king frost? besides mediarahan i don't see any skills that is particulary usefull or any resistence that make's the guy worth... the ace frost/black frost combo seems like a better idea

he's the first demon to have mediarahan which is like one of the most essential skills.  He also has good def iirc and tends to stay alive.

But use whoever you'd like.  There are lots of good demons in the game.

This game is so much faster and less tedious than the EO games. I love that I don't have to draw out the whole map myself and enemies aren't just static pictures anymore. I don't think I can go back.

EO feels like a giant grind with nothing to do other than killing.  SJ, and SMT in general, is much more fun because of all the customability.  I've probably spent nearly an hour just messing around with fusions and seeing what I can make.

Did they purposely make the female demons confusing as fuck? Had a good convo, gave this broad my hp, mp, and a bead that I didn't even know I had, and the bitch still left. I can't even figure women out in a videogame. :maf

i've finished the original EO and i didn't finish EO2 only because my save went nuke (i was in the 4th stratum) there is some good rpg there but some decisions are just plain dumb, useless jobs, skills that break the game like immunize, sidequest that are pointless, ultimate weapons that pop's out during the middle of the game, all of these helps making a game that gets easier as you proceed instead of the otherway around! it's somewhat of a clusterfuck

if you are neutral and asks a chaos or law demon to join you there is a chance he will flee even after negotiation, most female demon are either a femme, lady or night all chaos family

uh anyway i'm level 39,just a little push and i can summon king frost,my XP bar raises so slow it's not even fun! i have a shitload of demon in stocks but i can't fuse anything because every demon i could make trough fusion is like level 45

No one said there wasn't, but Strange Journey handles some things better. I never even realized how tedious EO was until I started playing this.

he asks you to find demons and after you find that demon he gives you chunks of password... but where the heck are the other chunks?
also my last request was to find a demon with a pair of scissors but i haven't seen one anywhere
what's the deal?

i had to fucking write a map on a piece of paper so i would stop walking in circle! that's how bad it was!
then at a certain point i tought i went inside every warp but still couldn't find the last thing i needed... the reason?
spoiler (click to show/hide)
THOSE BASTARD NOT HAPPY WITH HAVING LIKE 20 WARPS AROUND PUT A HIDDEN PASSAGE IN ONE OF THE ROOMS! OH AND THE NEXT BIT INVOLVE HOLES AND BACKTRACKING EVERYTIME YOU FALL INTO A HOLE! I EXPECT THAT THE NEXT DUNGEON WILL HAVE A TINY GNOME WHO WILL KICK ME IN MY NUTS EVERY 5 MINUTES OR SO
[close]
anyway i reached the boss and since i realized i wouldn't go much far without hard hitting him,i leveled up to level 46 by soloing monster (otherwise it would have taken forever!) so i could get a demon with agidyne,i made an all chaos team and proceeded to mop the floor with him, then i noticed my alignment shifted to law
AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH
no! i wouldn't take this shit!
i resetted and repeated the boss, this time i keeped my neutral alignment (by the way i just found my first chaos/law only piece of equipment but none of them looked particulary impressive, still the loot whore in me is a little saddened) the next bit is somewhat spoilerish so...

"easy boss" i say
NOOOOOOOPPPPPPPEEEEE
now you have to fight the guy again! and he has a move that inflict random status ailment, and these include stone and bomb YAAAAYYYYY INSTANT CHEAP DEATH,WE MISSED YOU GUYS! it's like... it's not an atlus game without you guys,so anyway my current team can deal quite a lot of damage to him, especialy agidyne guy but they have a hard time surviving his death wave move, main character doesn't seems to take a lot of damage so maybe it's a physic move and i should try a physic resistant team (or better yet add doppleganger back on the team... but his stat sucks now and he's likely to die at the first hama :/) i could use king frost mediaharan but sometimes he goes after the boss so i still end up with dead guys, maybe i should get a anti-stone or anti-bomb ring for my character and just solo the boss if my team die,my character barely takes any damage so unless i get hit by annoying instacheapdeathtrademarkbyatlus i'm pretty safe

I can't really give any tips as I got lucky with her and had just the right team and got through it on my first try.  I know she gave some of the other import players a really hard time though.

Are you still neutral?

Yeah.  My team right now is MC, King Frost and Gogmagog (reflects ice and has a lightning attack so he is awesome).  I'm trying to figure out who to put in the 4th slot.  Someone who reflects or absorbs ice and has some buffs/debuffs would be perfect.

I spammed War Cry until her attacks did virtually no damage and just whittled her away.

That is why I love SMT so much.  No substantial grindan, just a different approach.  :rock

One thing I do dislike about this battle system is that physical special attacks now take MP instead of HP.  I always thought that was a neat strategic element to sacrifice a bit of your health to do some more damage.
