What's more, when interviewed he says he got the idea for adapting the book (BTW, he didn't even get the author of the original book tickets to the Oscars, dude has to watch it at home, lol) when he saw it in a bookstore.

When actually, the studio already owned the rights, and Sheldon Turner had already written a screenplay which Reitman did a minor rewrite on before shooting. This has been discussed in a lot of the film blogs, but if you went from just the mainstream press, you would think the whole movie was Reitman's idea from concept to filming.

She didn't have a third as much on her plate as Cameron did. In terms of degree of difficulty, it's no contest.

Yeah, shooting on location, with a 10 dollar budget, is a lot easier than being on a soundstage with hundreds of cameras, and have a bunch of artist over at WETA doing all the work for you.
