Just watched it and everything you don't like about fan-service is in this (even the intro alone shows a good amount of it) so yea....

was awesome though with the zombie outbreak and the effects (people getting eaten, loyalties being dashed and people in denial thinking its a dream)

Susumu Hirasawa hasn't made a bad soundtrack to date. He and Satoshi Kon work so well together.

Agreed.  I own a bunch of his albums, really got into his music after hearing the stuff he did for Berserk.

I'm skeptical with them but did get their release.  I watched another series they subbed and it started getting some stupid internet-meme type words and phrases inserted, which was very, very annoying.

There's a group that takes Crunchyroll's subs and changes the font to look a lot better.  If they start doing HSoTD I will get it from them instead.

finished Kara no Kyoukai

movie 6 was pretty much filler fanservice, decent but nothing special
movie 7 was 2 hour finale and it was kind of disappointing.  It felt really dragged out, the explanations for key early events were not that great and the finale is kind of weak.  It wrapped up the series with an ending, but wasn't a strong one.

Overall the series of movies is enjoyable despite that a few questions remain (probably answered in the novels).  Story is ok, music is great, animation/art is pretty good.  Pacing outside in movies 2-5 is great.
Ep5 really is the peak and true finish of the series.  Shame ep6/7 only make the series worse.  Still probably the best thing under the Type-Moon label.

All things considered, outside of High School the Dead, this past anime season looked a lot better than the current one.

Watched the Kurenai OAV

Was cute.  Just fanservice, nothing special.  But it reminded me of what a great little show that was.  The voice acting was reaaaaaaally good, especially Shinkuro & Murasaki.  And the writing rolled very nice and Mamet-like.  Fantastic music as well.  Don't remember the story much, think it kind of ran out of steam in the end iirc.  But still, that was one of the better shows with great characters and excellent production.  Watching the OAV, I'd really like another season at some point.

Just finished watched Tatami Galaxy.

Was very interesting to say the least.

I thought it was a nice modern fairlytale take on

Apparently the Kurenai OAV is based off the manga. So snice you liked it so much, maybe you should check it out.

Pretty much every show I've seen this season ranges to "Decent" to "holy fucking shit why the fuck don't they make more of this"

Gonna watch Digimon(lol) later.

Kinda sounds like that Nicolas cage movie called Family Man.

It was interesting seeing alternate views of situations that happened

eg The MC was forcibly dressed as the Clean up Corps leader with the plane in one ep, then he's knowingly the leader with the plane in another.

But i wonder if final scenario was the actual version of the MC (where he did nothing) or was that just another scenario?.

The reason i asked is that the other characters didn't seem to know him (Ozu especially) when he helped but he did because of what he saw.

Loved the role reversal between him and Ozu in the final ep and even the discussion was the same.  :lol

Digimon was aight. Pretty much has robot digimon combining to make digimon zords. So yeah.

I never seen Strikes Witches before so I decided to DL episodes 1 of season 2. I don't understand why they're not wearing any pants/skirts.

Finally finished Durarara!! Nice show altogether but I liked the first half better than the second, felt more focused. They introduced characters(Traffice Cop and the Dad) but never follow up of them which sucks because they were really interesting. Well they're most likely going to make a Season 2.

Plus TRUST ME TRUST ME TRUST ME TRUST ME.

It came out in Japan two days after I left back in 2006, saw all the promotional stuff for it at the Ghibli Museum as well as all over Tokyo and on TV. It will be nice to finally see it, even if it's not that great.

Everyone likes Ritsu the most.  I don't like Ritsu.  I like the depressing characters like Nadoka, Asuza, Ui, and the teacher.  The main four girls are jerks.  Yui wrecks everything, then she tries to act cute, which is to say she acts borderline distinguished mentally-challenged.  Mugi plays ignorant towards it all and they only keep her around because she supplies them with sweets and musical instruments.  Ritsu is just a bitch.  And Mio acts timid but we know she is a wicked person; all the songs about marshmallows and pillows doesn't hide anything.

what's bore opinion on gantz?

i enjoyed it till they explained gantz.
it's slowly released and will never end (although probably in the final arc now, but who knows how many years to go)

it's popcorn fun of enjoyable blood, guts, and tits
a guilty pleasure of mine.

wwwww looks good.

Gantz is the only manga I actively read. I've just picked up the most recent tankoubon and will re-read the previous one to catch up. So I'm not up to date with the weeklies.

The first half is better than the last half. The character relationships are what keep me interested. Kurono's growth as a character was well done, but he's pretty much peaked. I didn't enjoy the 200pp they spent destroying Osaka. Nothing but sound effects and nothing particularly clever strategically in the way they fought. There's all kinds of clever stuff early on. Not so much, lately.

I know, but S2 has none of that  :'(

Instead she just seems depressed that she isn't married and the kids no longer respect her as a teacher because of how the main four girls treat her.

Judging from what I've seen of latter-day samurai movies, they'll probably go for the latter.

It's Japanese, so a live-action movie will be over-the-top-stupid and try too hard to be like its source material, which generally doesn't work when not in animated form.  (At least DMC got it right.)

The way to do a Kenshin movie is to base it on the first story arc.  Kenshin's a nice guy that looks like he'd never hurt a fly, bad guys come, he shows he can handle them, relationships develop, there's some lolz, have a final showdown-type scene, end on a high note.  ~fin~

<brob> ritsu?
<Junpeii> yeah i'd say she's my fave too

Even those who resist eventually succumb to the gloriousness that is K-On.

I don't like Ritsu the most.  She's ok.  Yui is my favorite because she's dumb and lazy which makes her funny in a Yotsuba but older and less funny way.

The only characters I actually dislike are Ui and her friends and Azuya when she's with them.  Talk about a set of boring characters.  The episodes that don't have the main 4 and are about Azuya/Ui/othergirl are so boring I fast forward through them just to check if there is any music.

I think that's why I like the 'boring' characters.  Episode 4 or 5 in Season 2 that was about the people left behind was kinda tragic.  I can see most people not liking them, but I just think it's funny that when they have free time, their lives are empty.  If there are more in Season 2, I should continue watching.  That was the only episode I enjoyed so far.

I don't agree about Yui.  The difference between Yotsuba and her is that Yui is just lethargic and stupid.  They could replace her with a dying pig and it would have the same effect.  Yotsuba is creative, energetic, and able to apply that whimsy to anything, making ordinary things seem like grand events.  The series and character are really charming.  Why hasn't it become an anime yet?

I may be hating on the characters a bit much because in Season 2 they really just become unbearable.  I had no real problems with the first season.

The creator of Yotsuba doesn't want it turned into an anime, that's why.

Which is completely lame.

Yotsuba would be the best anime ever, they could just shut down the anime industry if it ever came out.

What is Azuma's reasoning for not wanting Yotsubato! to not be turned into an anime series?

Azumanga Daioh was awesome in animated form.  Better than the original manga version, in fact.  It's the only series I can think of that I could say that about.
