What you wrote is stupid, though. It basically amounts to
"I don't have a horse in the race, so what I say we should do is this: one of the sides that views this area as sacred, holy ground should give up on any claim they may or may not have to this land and fuck off since not everybody can have what they want here."
I mean, there's a certain lovely, simplistic logic to it, kind of like when Solomon ordered the baby split. The problem is that you're dealing with irrational religious desires here and people who have already proven they're willing to die rather than let the other side "win". So I don't think having everybody sit down and have a Glen Shinobi kumbayah moment is gonna get the job done.
Now, there was no annihilation in that. Just stupidity. Defending the stupidity instead of walking away or just saying "my bad, you're right the situation is pretty fucking complicated and can't be solved by a bunch of figurts on the internets" is where the annihilation starts.
