You can let Galactus kill the two "extra" characters on your team once you have him down to low health, then activate x-factor with the guy you want to beat it with and annihilate him.

I just don't know how to avoid that grab he does. The rest of his attacks are blockable, but that grab does massive damage.

Man, this TVC layout is throwing me for a loop.  I keep pressing the wrong damn assists and occasionally even the other two unused buttons.  Not sure yet if I'm gonna just stick it out and go hardcore at training mode for as long as it takes or switch to the MvC2 layout.

It's back+Assist in TVC, iirc.

I don't particularly like holding the button either, but as I understand it, it's much better to tag your opponent in with a delayed hyper combo or a mid-air exchange anyway.  Not sure how much of an issue it's going to be.

http://shoryuken.com/content/marvel-vs-capcom-3-dlc-pricing-announcement-3635/

Quote
DLC Costume pack- Available March 1st, 2011
-New costume for Ryu, Iron Man, Captain America, Dante, Chris, and Thor
-All 6 are available for 400 Microsoft points or $5
-These are NOT included in the special edition.

Shadow Mode- Available March 1st, 2011
-The first Shadow Mode pack will include teams and AI from three Capcom staff members, including producer Ryota Niitsuma, associate producer Akihito Kadowaki, and a QA tester.
-The first pack is scheduled for release on March 1st, 2011 with more packs becoming available for download at a later date. If you ever wanted to say you beat the producer of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at his own game, this is your best shot.
-These are NOT included in the special edition.
-Pricing is currently undetermined.

Bought the special edition of MvC3? You get Jill and Shuma Gorath! Available March 15th, 2011.
-The SE version of the game comes with downloadable characters, Jill and Shuma Gorath. You may redeem these characters on March 15, 2011. We did not intentionally delay the DLC characters as we know how badly our fans want to play them. This was an unfortunate technical issue and we apologize for them not being available today.
For PS3 copies of the special edition, your PSN code is printed on the back of your art book. On March 15th, your PSN code will be available for activation. If you attempt to enter your code before March 15, 2011, PSN will tell you that it's an invalid code.
-For Xbox 360 copies of the special edition, we will send you your Xbox LIVE DLC code on March 15, 2011. To register your email with our system, please visit: marvelvscapcom3.com/redeemand follow the step by step instructions. The code on the back of your art book is NOT a Xbox LIVE code but rather, the code you input into our redeem site.
-Jill and Shuma-Gorath is the only DLC that comes with the special edition. Buying the special edition does not also make you eligible for other DLC.
-Jill and Shuma-Gorath will still be available for purchase on March 15, 2011 for the people who did not buy the Special Edition. Each character will cost $5 or 400 Microsoft points.  lol

SSF4 was bad too, but at least you could QUICKLY pull up a list of games, get pings to each player, and attempt to join. And if you didn't want to do that, you could host a room and someone would join in 10 seconds.

MvC3 is like 10 steps backwards.

You experts think MVC3 would work better with a pad than most 2D fighters?  I haven't tried MVC3 yet but it seems like you're only using 4 buttons most of the time so that the shoulder buttons can be used for tags, with two extra face buttons for combinations.  I'm just not as consistent pulling off moves on both sides with a stick.  So even though I have good sticks for both systems, I only bust them out when friends come over.

Anyone come up with any decent team combos yet?  At the moment, I'm using Skrull, Sentinel :teehee, and Haggar/Hulk (mostly just for their excellent assists).

But I haven't even touched a third of the cast yet.  Spent about two and a half hours with Deadpool alone just trying to figure everything out.

Ugh, seriously? I have both, but ever since I bought the game and couldn't find decent online matches I gave up, however I remember someone saying that DLC characters are treated like the Unlimited version of characters, as in limited to certain modes.

Whoever said that was wrong.  The DLC characters are fully-selectable in online, and if you don't have them you can still play against them.

Wow. The matchmaking for ranked mode is the worst I have ever seen. I tried 10+ times to get a match, and every time I got some type of "failed to connect" message. Shit's unplayable unless you use fight request.

Yeah, something's up with the game right now.  I did NOT have this problem with the PS3 version pre-launch, but last night with the Xbox 360 version, it kept happening.

How do you tag in TvC, Hold a button (exchange) too?

Back+Assist in TvC.

Seriously, it's not even funny. At least you guys can set it to same region and get results. Not a single fucking being is playing this in mine. At least with SSFIV I was able to play against decent European people but now I don't even get to choose.

You should try doing the "Capcom PS3 Region Workaround," and create a new PSN account set with Europe as your location.  It will then match you up with Euro players by default.  I have had to do the same thing with this game and with SSF4 to play American players...otherwise it defaults my region to Japan.

You guys didn't have the same issue SSFIV? I ONLY do rank matches in SSFIV through fight request.

No, not in SSF4.  They improved the online in that game.  I did have it for a while in vanilla SF4, but that was because of my NAT settings.  When we switched to a better connection, that stopped.  I don't think this is the case for MvC3, since so many people are reporting this problem happening.  They need to fix this shit ASAP.

Considering switching back to that, but I'm warming up to the TVC layout and I kinda prefer H to stay on the furthest right button.

Also, I found it sorta awkward to have the attack buttons split up when the two buttons you press for a HC control something different about it.  Like to do Skrull's Death Penalty, you press L+M for the left side of the screen, M+H for the right and L+H for the middle.  I think that was what made me switch to the TVC layout, now that I think about it.

yeah I have it set to beta. i'll make sure it's set to DT though. Whats the lock mean on the pad and does Turbo do anything?

The lock keeps the guide button from functioning.  Turbo, obviously, turns on rapid fire, which doesn't have much application in MvC3.  All mashable specials/hypers only take three button presses, from what I've seen.

I fucking love this game.

Already have two teams:

Zero/Phoenix/Deadpool

and

Deadpool/Chris/Storm

Holy fuccccccccccck.

Zero, Phoenix, and Deadpool are easily my favorite characters in this game so far. And they really make a team dynamic that's akin to my preferred MvC2 team: Cable, BB Hood and Ruby Heart. It's this mix of zoning plus melee that really makes an interesting team for me.

I managed to take down two characters with just Deadpool against my housemate. We're so even in terms of ability right now that the game is just one big experimentation one after another. I'm loving it.

I love how even the game feels even. Sure, Hulk and Sentinel do HUGE damage, but with x-factor implemented, you can make it a bit more even. My Phoenix can die with just one big combo a lot of times, so I HAVE to use Dark Phoenix for buff boosts. X-Factor seemed to be cheap before the game came out, but it's TOTALLY  fair. My buddy Alejandro and I have gotten really good at avoiding each others XF's and we're lucky if we manage to kill the other team with XF.

Along with Tactics Ogre and Ghost Trick, this is probably the best week of gaming I've had in a long ass time.

Just did Wesker and Magneto's trials. If some of the later ones are going to be standard combos, I think I'm in trouble since they're pretty hard. Magneto's mission 9 seems like a good bread and butter that isn't too hard to do though: j. S, cr.L, cr.M, cr.H, S, j.H, air dash, j.M, j.H, H xx qcb+L, hyper.

So far here is the team I've end up with:

Doom is great, missile assist is godly, so he's definitely on my team.

Right now I'm trying to find a good on-point character, somebody who has a good rushdown game, so I'm alternating between Wolverine and Dante. X23 is surprisingly good too, but doesn't hit as hard. For the last spot I'm looking for a good zoning/keep-away character, Arthur looks cool but is hard to control thanks to his crappy mobility.

Wow, this game is fucking great.  Incredible.  I'm using X23/Dante/Phoenix.  Yes, I save up meter and xfactor for Dark Phoenix.  I agree that it's overpowered, but people gotta learn how to beat it (me included.)  I think it's a good thing that people are playing Sent/Dark Phoenix a lot, so we can figure out whether they're truly broken or if people just haven't figured out how to deal with them yet.   I mean, Sent's hitbox is huge and Dark Phoenix is still weak in stamina...

Sucks that the online system is terrible.  Way more terrible than it has any right being at this point in the gen.  Actually, the entire package we got with this game is apparently super bare bones with plenty of room for assrape DLC or patches.  From the announcement to release, it seemed like the game came out pretty fast, maybe?  In that case, hopefully they just plan on patching online for free as they go along instead of bundling it with a dlc mode or something.
