So I get an invite to play right as I'm rematching some random player online.  I pick three characters randomly, then just walk forward during the match so I can lose and join the other game.

Then the guy starts taunting me instead of beating me up.  So with one character left, Arthur, I start playing and proceed to beat him down, effortlessly.  I was just :rofl the entire time.

It's matches like this that REALLY make me wish there was a replay feature.    :-\

The DLC costumes are actually on the disc, so you have to pay $5 to unlock them.

Or you don't buy them because they're fucking costumes.

Can we stop pretending to be outraged by this sort of shit?  It should be obvious by now that it was always their intention to sell them - whether they're on the disc or not is entirely meaningless.

It is pretty annoying though. Buying every costume available for SSF4 costs like twice as much as the base game.

But if you actually want every single one of those costumes...I mean, really. It does suck that it's less stuff in games, but nothing vital was lost.

Don't get me wrong, the price is absolutely exorbitant for the content involved.  Hell, the $5 character DLC is even a bit much, and that actually has impact on the gameplay.  (Characters who are also included on the disc.  LOL ManaByte)

EVENT MODE patch today!  This update won't actually go live until March 25, 2011, and it contains a series of special challenges. Completing these challenges will unlock various titles.

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/mar/22/mvc3-event-mode-patch-out-today-option-opens-25th/#comments

Confirmed changes:

 • It's been confirmed that Sentinel's health has been nerfed. It's about 910,000 now — down from 1,300,000. Sentinel has a bit more stamina than Spider-Man now (900,000), but less than Wolverine (950,000).  :o :o :o
 • Hitstun on Akuma's hurricane kick is now too small to combo into itself repeatedly, thus removing the infinite.
 • Spencer/Haggar glitch removed.
 • Spencer now bounces into the air after the M option of his ground bionic arm grab, removing his corner loop.

Now delete x-factor from the game and we're all set :D

I'm in the camp that thinks his health nerf is a bit excessive.  He's already getting beasted by a growing set of "anti-Sentinel" characters and this isn't going to affect the outcome there either way.

The big effect is that it makes drone assist too risky to be at all viable (he's fully vulnerable the entire time he's on the screen pointing his stupid finger), largely defeating his usefulness as part of a team while he still retains his easy-mode combos and obscene damage output both with X-factor and without.  A health nerf was probably the easiest way to address "the Sentinel problem", but it wasn't the best.

This is great news. I'm not against XF to be honest, but I wish they'd change the power/time levels to 10/10, 15/15, 20/20 respectively. 30/30 is just too much, I mean it's the a third of the timer!

Sentinel is still a powerhouse when it comes to damage but at least now people will either have to learn how to use him better or rework their teams. This will make the upcoming tourneys much more interesting just to see who will be changing up their teams.

Tourneys would be more interesting if everyone used who they LIKED and stopped worrying about who was on top (that particular month/week/whatever).   :-\

I mean, it's different in a game like MvC2 where everybody sucks save for certain key characters in high-level play, but that game is a broken mess to begin with.

Search for you character in the bar on the right.  Tragic doesn't post the inputs, but you should be able to find them in the comments.  Dude is a training-mode genius.  Also, the Brady Games guide is legit.  Amazon still has it for $11.

Best thing about the nerf: I can now play Sentinel without feeling like a turd every time I lame it out on some bullshit.  :bow real skill :bow2

Same.  I used to put 100s of hours into every fighting game out there.  Now it's hard for me to play one for more than a week.  Then again I used to have local fighting game friends who'd come over and play for hours every week.  Online matches just aren't the same for me.  Plus I don't have the reflexes of MvC2 days.  Getting too old for fighting games :(

I need to devote a solid week to this game after I unlock all of the single player shit. Pick a team, spend days poring over SRK learning their strategies, combos, and how to use them properly, and just play hundreds of matches. I hope that will get me to like the game more, because right now I'd rather just play SF4 and BlazBlue.

If you've played a fighting game before, you can hold on to your hundreds of hours. It won't take long for you to wrap your head around it.

New patch today.  2MB.  So far it's only been verified that the Capt. America mid-screen H shield infinite has been removed and the Zero snap-back glitch fixed (with a notable nerf to the shadow HC as it now fully deactivates if you snap someone out while it's active).  No patch notes from Crapcom, once again.

The dog's ground infinite has also been removed:

Because discovering the changes is fun!  :spin

Surprising they haven't removed the DHC damage reset yet.  I suspect that'll be gone at some point; while it isn't especially gamebreaking or anything, it's probably the most exploited glitch in the game right now and tends to lead to rather basic 100% combos expending only two bars of meter.

He wasn't used especially often by high-level players in tournaments even before the patch, primarily due to his rather linear gameplay and glaring weaknesses (he gets ate up by quick characters and anyone with quick double-hitting attacks a la Taskmaster's jumping H or anything Zero does).  Post-patch, it's about the same.  He's still an easy-mode powerhouse with the touch of death and one of the best assists in the game.

With lower health, he just needs to be played a lot safer and you really need to protect him when you're calling in drones.

Also did anyone figure out a way to make Jill not suck?  I haven't played MvC3 in about a month.
