At the station near work, there's a rather long escalator going down to the platform. People always stand on the right side and leave the left side open for those who want to walk down.
The other day I'm walking down the escalator. Several people are in front of me. As we approach the bottom, a rather portly older gentleman with a cane is taking up a full step with both his rotundness and a bag on the left side of the step.
The girl in front me says "excuse me" and the guy goes "THIS IS AN ESCALATOR. USE THE STAIRS IF YOU WANT TO WALK DOWN. LEARN HOW TO USE THE ESCALATOR" in a loud voice, looking annoyed. She ignore him and steps over his bag, continuing down.
I also say "excuse me" as I step over his bag and continue on. He says "THIS IS AN ESCALATOR. USE THE STAIRS IF YOU WANT TO WALK DOWN. LEARN HOW TO USE THE ESCALATOR" again, even though I was two steps behind the girl.
The girl hears this at the bottom, looks up, and screams "FUCK YOU!!!!" I get to the bottom and keep walking. The girl is front of me and is trying to use her train pass, but it seems to have run out of credits, so she goes to put more on it at a kiosk...near the escalator.
And as I'm walking down to the platform, I hear "THIS IS AN ESCALATOR. USE THE STAIRS IF YOU WANT TO WALK DOWN. LEARN HOW TO USE THE ESCALATOR."
