Am I a bad person if I don't want to meet my best friends Girl Friend?

A little history. A guy who is basically my brother is now in the air force and there's talk of shore leave. He'll have a month and spend most of it with this girl wherever she lives( I don't know). Ok cool that makes sense. For a week and a half he'll be back in Chicago and I was hoping to get in time like  the old days. With her there it would be like a third wheel thing. Awkward, but still normal I guess.

But the actual problem is he's sold this women as being completely terrible. One of those "I'll kill myself if you leave me chicks". Not even a kind of, that's whats she's said. The dude has had to support her financially and be under her thumb. She's very controlling and this is what he's told me. i've never meet her, but this plus the fact that she's 31 to his 23 dosen't sound super amazing. She's just one of those control freaks and my friend is admittedly kind of a push over and a sucker for needing to be in a relationship. That's just his deal and there's really nothing more to be said.

Either way I'm not very excited or interesting in meeting this chick and it kind of brings down the entire anticipation of seeing my friend again. So I kind of don't and I feel pretty disappointed.

Your friend is in for a lifetime of pain if he doesn't get away from her; it's no wonder you don't want to meet her.

She's free to kill herself if he leaves her; that's her choice. He should get the fuck outta Dodge City.

Yeah I've tried to tell him that anytime someone puts that on you they're trash and it's obvious sign that you need to get out of the relationship. It's just he's sone of the guys who feels the extreme need to be in one no matter the cost. It's pretty bad when I'm the sane one in the friendship. Either way, I sadly think this is the one who will create the rift between us. I mean the guys is seperated by an ocean from this women. All he'd have to do is not answer the phone and all comunication would cease. yet because he is so weak willed he can't. he can't deal with the drama and pain that comes with the end of a relationship and will do anything to avoid that. It's a shame, the dude really is like a brother to me and I kind of feel like I'm never going to see him again despite the fact that he should just be able to tell this check that he can go a week wihout her. I don't know, I feel like it's pretty impossible to have friendships when your in relationships or at least some guys can't balance both for whatever reason. I already knew my brother was one of those guys and it was pretty imvetivable that this would be the conclusion. I guess it's good that I can't get women.

Post-nut clarity is real, brehs. When I think of the potential trouble it has saved me from I almost tear up. Almost went through with doing something dumb tonight, decided to wank...and suddenly I feel free. Like I flushed the demons and bad thoughts out of my blood, and now I can just chill tonight instead of pursuing something I know won't work out long term.

I'm re-reading Snow Crash, and the section on the "toilet paper pool" where government employees were lectured on how to bring (and share) their own toilet paper had me grinding my teeth in righteous anger. Actually, the whole fucking section where YT's mother's government job is described used to seem funny to me, but after a decade in a Japanese company, that shit had me grinding my teeth, hard.

As much as I complain about Facebook, I do have to say it's interesting to get a peek into other people's lives that are very unlike yours.
Most of my facebook is filled with people like me professional people that look like troglodytes and my wife's family (conservative mormons) which I know that life rather well. But a few people on there lead lives that I just would never have insight into. One of them is a trophy wife. Her posts about posh social gatherings, working out with other trophy wives, the intricacies of their little aristocracy and all that. Such an alien lifestyle to me.

Getting ready for vacation.  Two weeks off!  Been a long, long time since I had that much time off.  Going to Japan.  Will be in Tokyo for a couple of days and then will be heading to Ishikawa to stay with the in-laws.  For that part I'll be ready to combat boredom with my laptop and portable game systems.  Hoping to borrow or rent a car and drive all over the place though.  Will be hanging out with my buddy Z during most of the first week.  No idea what I'm gonna do with myself during the second.  My wife is going to be going off doing girl stuff with her friends and her sister. 

I think I'm actually feeling some separation anxiety, too- with the dog.  She'll be fine -my parents are going to take care of her- but I feel like a parent leaving a baby behind or something.   :'(

Leaving Saturday morning.  Should be no trouble getting to the airport a few hours early.  Heard about this service you can pay for that lets you skip by the security checks.  You have to have a background check and be pre-approved and then it's like $80 for several years.  Probably worth it for frequent flyers, but it sounded pretty stupid when a family member said she paid for it so she wouldn't have to take her shoes and a belt off.     I did buy a buckle-less belt off Amazon though...just to make it go faster, lol.
