I guess this is as good a thread as any to ask, since it's a pretty random question; is there any kind of plugin/widget for Windows 7 that displays the volume level on screen when you adjust it using the keyboard, OSX style? I'm too dumb to tell how loud stuff is just using my stupid ears.

However I was totally off what little game I had. Didn't complement her on anything and she tried to initiate physical contact at the end, which I don't really like doing with people, and that was awkward. Also feel like I talked about two many negative things.

talking to several of the companies I deal with as they're getting their next year's growth targets. They're talking like 30% growth next year (one was at 60%) the lowest one I've seen is 12%. I'm like "Am I the only one that sees this is going to end in disaster?" I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

2-3% growth above inflation is ideal I tend to find.
It's sustainable. Not crazy and tends to be healthy. Sure it's not sexy, but you can count on it.

60% growth? That's insanity. You'll never be able to sustain that. And when you hit your first dip it's going to hit you hard. Of course, no one cares because the short term investors will be long gone by the time the first dip occurs leaving all the employees and smaller investors to deal with the inevitable crash against a wall. Marxists like to pretend Crisis Theory doesn't exist anymore, if anything you're more likely to find Marxian writing attempting to disprove it than it explain it to a layperson.

David Harvey is the only person I can think of who really touches on it these days, and that's partly to further his own theory about it (that capitalism never solves crises, it just moves them around in a type of shell game). Discounting that, if you want to know more, I'd start with some of his talks. He gets kind of "bookish" in his analysis sometimes, but he never really forgets that Marx is too RTFM for people who aren't in academia or on long-term unemployment in the first world.

I posit that crises are more a consequence of the anarchy of production than the tendency of the rate of profit to fall (what Marx's theory of crisis is built on the assumption of), but I tend to read more Marxian math stuff trying to disprove Marx than Marx.

I had a bad dream. It wasn't the normal one about being late for something or whatever, I had wrote a note in messy handwriting and when I went to read it I couldn't make it out. The harder I tried the less any of the letters looked like actual letters and so I thought I should not try to focus and then when I went to try that I woke up. Unable to test the method.

I'll never get that note back again because it only existed in the dream.

Had a meeting at UC Berkley on Friday.
Showed up early and spent some time at a Starbucks by the window.
Out on the street in front of the starbucks were a bunch of homeless hippy kids wearing their huge knitted beanies over their blonde dreadlocks. They woke up, rolled joints and started smoking pot while making necklaces and bracelets which they put in front of a sign that said "Will trade for pot."

I couldn't think of anything more stereotypically Berkley. And for good measure one of the chicks with blonde dreads was wearing a hoodie with nothing on underneath except a bra and of course she wore it open, and of course, she had messy boobs.

Went to Best Buy tonight. Can't even remember the last time I was there. I don't think I've been this year. Anyway, popped in there to pick up an Apple TV since my current one was several years old and just not doing the job anymore, and I figured it would be faster than going to the mall and into the Apple Store. They changed the whole store layout. It was literally like a labrynth and I found myself lost.

Found a counter in the middle of 'nowhere' and waited forever to get rung up. Should have gone to the mall.

Also saw someone in a tent outside. A lone guy in a tent. Talking very loudly to someone on his phone. I didn't think people still bothered to camp out for shit anymore with so much online.
