Ratchet and Resistance are stuck with Sony though right?  I'd like to see them do something original.

Their multiplatform game will be a new IP. Based on their statement, I'm assuming they'll continue making exclusives for Sony (Resistance and Ratchet) in addition to this new IP that EA is publishing.

Yea they will. Saying that their relation with Sony is still strong and they still have projects for them.

naughty dog made jak 2
biggest turd ever

Y'know, I desperately wanted to like Jak 2, but just could not get past the swimmy aircars bonking into cops and making my life hell every time I was trying to get to a mission icon.

Why do people hate Jak 2 so much? It's the worst game of the trilogy, but it's still awesome.

Well the driving sucked like he said.

I never really cared for the shooting.  The best thing about the game was probably its platforming and camera.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Sucker Punch...they are fully independent, but relatively small

They could make a Wii game.

And the problem with the Jak 2 platforming was the checkpoints, I recall. There was a mission where it started with a turret stage, went to a 2D platformer-like stage along a wall, and then an action shooting stage in a wide yard populated with bad guys. I think it took me 3 or 4 tries to get past each stage, and death meant restarting over at the beginning of the mission, not the stage. By the time I finished the yard, I had probably gone from struggling through the first turret stage to going through it by rote; it had become a chore, which no game should ever become.
