You're right, Smooth.  Let me step up and CRACK DOWN.

Hmm, what's this?

I kinda wish Kojima had made this for a home system instead.  The controls felt really gimped when I was playing the demo.  It looks great though for a PSP game and I probably shouldn't complain too much about freeware.

i got the first level up but it brought the total futonball from 9 to 10... that seems a really dumb upgrade
anyway the cutscene are so needless melodramatic! is mgs4 like that?

MGS4 pushes melodrama to new heights.

Not sure how far you are, but it's actually really tame by MGS standards right now.  Probably the least hokey MGS game at this point.  I'm sure it's gonna start about clones and nanomachines and the clones that when they bark, they shoot nanomachines out of their mouths at some point.

you're past where I am.  I did a mission or two after the second tank fight.  I spent an hour and a half on that fight, dying way too much. I was trying to tranq everyone, then tranq the commander.  I got two tanks from the two fights.  I'm not sure if those were rewards for tranqing the boss or what.

The Paz stuff is pretty annoying.  Reminds me of Hope in FFXIII.  Apparently naming characters after their goal in life/what they symbolize is a big thing in Japan right now ???

Tank is hard the first time.  Then you do that battle 20 more times to build up an army of tanks and it's easy and you're done in <4 mins each time!

personaly i'm having trouble with more or less every boss...
dealing with the squad isn't a big trouble (you take some hits but you end up CQC everyone) but the boss itself is a pain in the ass,you spend all your time taking cover only to pop out for 2-3 seconds and shoot at him while he's preparing for the next attack

i've been using rocketlauncher but the damage they do is disappointing and they have like 6 shots, which is horrible... i've been trying using machinegun and those works better but i still end up taking forever and having to ask for extra ammo trough reinforcement

i think the commander only shows up if you deal with the squad,so if you just attack the tank, you don't have to deal with the squad

and you don't have to tranq him, even killing him give you the same result

Just that sometimes these things are easier if you ignore the squad and blow them up real quick.

But for the most part you should always go for the squad then commander so you can keep the vehicle.

I just use rocket launchers for every boss in the game.  You get better ones later on.  RPG7 or Law Rank3 do about 3-4x the damage of starting ones.

The first time you fight any boss it takes a while (mine were usually around 10-20 mins).  But then you learn the tricks and S rank the battles in 2-3 mins.

How does the weapon upgrade system work? Is it like MGS4 where you buy weapons and crap?

Because I really disliked that. Takes an element of adventure and exploration out of the game that's prominent in other MGS titles.

none of that shit.   There's a whole RPG backdrop to your equipment.  You use the air balloon to capture enemies.  Each enemy has stats for combat, weapon/item development, food preparation, medical skill, and information gathering.   You put the captured enemy under one of those categories and it increases the level of it.  So, you put guys into weapon/item development and you unlock new weapons and level up old ones that way.  You also find schematics during missions.  You also level up some weapons through use.  Other weapons might open up just for beating certain missions.

Every PSP game that tries to mimic second analog with buttons, controls like shit but that is PSP problem >:(

I found a happy medium in this game though, when detected switch to lethal weapon and auto aim.

And then just sit tight behind some cover and nuke everything that comes...AI is distinguished mentally-challenged anyway

Game is pretty good if you "master" the controls.

It's basically the Dreamcast method.

Sucks, though, I agree.  They should have aimed for MGS2 style gameplay and camera angles.

This sounds like a plan. I like to do things steath-like, though, so I tend to stick with MK-22, not them all out, and them hide. But that seems to be the best course in this game as the camera controls are horrid.

try to center the camera so that as soon as you press L you have the enemy in front of you
that's what i do

Really? Have fun with your claw hand.

I dunno, I found it easy to headshot people in the back.  If you're talking about TPS style "I'm getting shot by a bunch of guys and need to run and shoot" ummmm, in 40+ hours of the game I never had to do that.  If you get swamped just run up and CQC and later on super machineguns/shotguns mean you just point at a doorway and blast everyone as they run in.

and yeah, the IGN guy complained about not having everything explained, when the game gives you a mini tutorial every time you get a new feature AND indexes those tutorials in a menu so you can look at them whenever.  Stupid ass reviewer.

the ending is kinda stupid
the final fight took me 30 minutes but it was more because the final boss move a shitload and aiming at it it's hard and it also has tons of hp,it really wasn't as hard as the ign guy is making it to be
if it wasn't for the optional missions this would be a pretty short game
i mean there are 25 missions... each doesn't take more than 10 minutes and you have a game that's around 4 hours
