Is DirectX11 mode totally borked for anyone else? It crashes every 5 minutes until I disabled it.

no, AS is better I believe

I've got nearly full everything on @ 1980x1020 with my 5850 and it's very smooth but the piss filter really ruins it.

no stuttering here either :rock

Actually Anistropic can be used with either trilinear or bilinear.  AF+Trilinear is best, followed by AS only, Trilinear, then Bilinear.

It doesn't look that bad in Methodis' shot.  It's almost like a futuristic GTA4, which was a decent looking game.  How big are the levels?

what level of AA are people using? I think I'm using MLAA but wondering if I should be using something else.

8X MSAA if possible.  If not, then 4XMSAA.  MLAA creates artifacts that FSAA won't have.  Don't buy into Sfag hype.  PS3 only uses MLAA because it's got POS hardware that can't do real AA.

I just can't get over how awesome Hengsha is, I've probably spent several hours just wandering around and trying to find little hidden areas and loot. Or just soaking in the atmosphere.

It's got me even more hyped for Prey 2, since a big portion of it is basically the Hengsha area with some Mirror's Edge mixed in.

game is really long too, depending on how you play.

I want to say it's longer than the original but the load times, especially prior to the patch, took up a lot of time.

In Detroit
spoiler (click to show/hide)
three
[close]

for the whole game:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
detroit: three
hengsha: three
detroit again: two
hengsha again: two

if you bought form Gamestop or have the augmented addition, one more in the second visit to Hengsha

so in total, 10 (or 11)
[close]

the game warns you when you'll abandon side missions. also worth fully exploring every area.  you can find a few praxis kits (used for upgrades) around the world, plus you get experience for exploring.

if there are more, I haven't found them yet.  I double checked online and it says
spoiler (click to show/hide)
fourteen total
[close]

wait, nvm. that second number seem to be side-objectives, like in Detroit one is
spoiler (click to show/hide)
simply meeting Zeke if you let him survive in the first mission
[close]
the original number is for actual lengthy quests.

So what's the best way to level up or get cash? I need some more praxis before I leave Detroit.

Just explore around, look for hidden areas and do all the sidequests. Also, pick up everything you find and then go sell it.

It's really strange - the baton/crowbar/stun baton were required items, there's nothing to replace them.

I ran into that little alcove off to the left and hid behind a box. Barret would throw grenades that would bounce off the wall in front of him instead of taking me out. I'd just shoot him while he was reloading, only took a few minutes to kill him. The AI for some reason wouldn't walk in there and get me.

you can also throw shit at him. i threw everything that was red at him and then shot him a few times with my gun and he died.
so yeah you can tackle the fights in a few different ways

it's just always awful regardless of the method.

IMO at least the first boss fight is basic. the second one is aggressively bad because it tried to do something interesting but still sucks shit.

I'm playing on stealth mode so I only carry a stun gun and a tranq rifle, and then I get to the first boss and I'm like wtf is this?? Turns out he's really easy to take down with a stun gun, but I had waste 20 rounds, and that stuff's hard to find!
