I've died twice on each one so far and have taken no more than 5 minutes tops to beat both. The second was actually easier, because I anticipated it and loaded up on rockets at an earlier section. And invisibility + stun gun = dead boss. :lol

I'm gonna have to start pouring Praxis into armor and actual combat-related abilities in anticipation of the final boss. Tsc tsc

In Deus Ex 1 couldn't you

kill the big German guy, Gunther or whatever, by learning and repeating his killcode?

The final boss is easy.

Make sure you take the laser rifle and some EMP grenades in with you and you'll be just fine. Use the laser rifle to take out the rotating gun terrets, EMP the robot drones, and then shoot Zhao once you bring down the shield around her. Level 5 hacking skill helps, too.

If you're talking about the third boss fight...

Upgrade Typhoon and have either the laser rifle or heavy rifle and you'll kill Namir in a couple minutes.

Speaking of Namir, who

went and got the LIMB chip "upgrade"? I forgot to do it so I avoided losing my augmentations for the fight.

the game is way better as a stealth game than straight up shooter, but it's a pretty fun shooter if played that way.  I like the Wanted-curving bullet upgrade for the combat rifle.

Finished it,great game, not some goty imo.Tech wise game is outdated as hell(load load load, blurry, basic lighting, static pictures galore, even CG cutscenes are not something to talk around...
And that hurts the game because it's based on (vertical)exploring in (relatively)small areas.

I guess Square didn't want to invest too much for the first time.

Gameplay wise game really bored me near the end...sneak sneak sneak...sneak...

Yeah it's no Halo or Gears.

Roll fucking eyes.
Halo and Gears has nothing to do with this, but I will fight to death anyone that claims that this is some outstanding graphics, tech game.
Game is simply outdated(teh wise),but gameplay is very very good...especially if you like stealth games

So I guess this proves gameplay>graphics mantra

let Sanders go during the warehouse hold-up. Afterwards he met me in an alleyway to repay his debt. Thought this would be a good opportunity to tranq and give him over to the authorities. Kinda disappointed that the game didn't recognise this. Was hoping for a small communication from Jensen saying Sanders' was incapacitated and ready to be picked up.

yeah, a lot of the criticism seems right on.

though, the Pheromones/CASIE aug complaint is misguided.  winning a conversation the right way compared to ending it quickly with the CASIE yields different results in the long run.

two examples (mid-game spoilers)
spoiler (click to show/hide)
if you use the CASIE on Taggart, later when you reach Sandoval, he will flat out attack you.  If you talked Taggart down, he indirectly addresses Sandoval on the news program, which Sandoval sees, and you have the opportunity to talk Sandoval down from committing suicide.  You miss out on achievement for using it in this situation.

If you talk with Haas at the police station, the CASIE response blackmails him.  Later he shows up at your apartment and attacks you.  If you talked him down, you can offer him a job at Sarif.
[close]

CASIE ends the conversation instantly but it is never the favorable response.  It's the cheap way out and the game acknowledges it.

almost everything else I agree with.

I never really had that much trouble with the bosses. I mean, yeah, they weren't very good and felt way at odds with the stated purpose of the game, but a little preparation goes a long ways. I made sure to stock up on appropriately-powerful weapons and took 'em out in short order.

I went with Darrow's ending. I always play as the good moral character looking out for humanity.

Ultimately, I think, all three were right. And all three were wrong. They weren't bad people, but they had flaws.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Hugh Darrow cares about humanity and wants to save it from a cold, emotionless technology. But he's also a bitter, old man who is jealous of his own creation leaving him behind.

David Sarrif genuinely cares about helping people with this new technology, but is willing to compromise the truth and pin the blame on someone else to keep the advancement from stalling.

William Taggart sees the potential for evil inherent in this technology and wants to put a stop to it, but is willing to use [or at least allow] violence and terrorism to flare up across the world to that end.

That's why I picked the fourth option.

I saw Darrow's ending as more of a "here's the truth of everything that went down." I didn't see it as robbing everyone of augmentation technology.

Sink points into exploration stuff early. Makes it more fun imo, and emphasizes the fact more than other augs, that you're a badass cyborg, picking up fridges/bins to take groups of people out, jumping over 3m high walls or just smashing through walls is awesome. Exploration and hacking augs were my main focus early the game.

I don't like Jensen much though, he's fine just not very interesting or funny. Commander Shep destroys him in every way

Im OK with the main character- whats his face in the first game wasnt mr personality either. Really its just the exploration leads to situations where getting out of an area that goes nowhere takes way too long. Its like I can explore- but there's a 50% chance i'll find nothing and have to backtrack a bunch.

at then end of DX1 I ended up really liking the way JC's lines were delivered. There's this slight snarky, sarcastick touch to everything he says. Also, I like little lip smack sound he makes. I dunno.

i actually have never experienced what your describing. every place i go to has some kind of alternative path in/out. can you give some examples? there may be some places where you seeing areas that will be used later on with doors that can't be hacked yet (which is contrived but a really minor thing) but other then that...

Typhoon + heavy/laser rifle combo. Boom. Dead.

Typhoon is like an instant win button in the game. All you need is a handful of candy bars and some Typhoon ammo and you can smoke every boss in seconds.

When I play it again, I'm thinking about avoiding Typhoon until I've got nothing else to upgrade so it'll be more of a challenge.

Nah, those boss fights suck, nobody should worry about cheesing them with Typhoon. Since it makes the shitty bosses a non-issue it's worth a couple praxis

Just finished the game, made a save before the end and 'experienced' all the various endings :lol Not into Jensens moral ramblings and the video sequences they cut together. There were quite a lot of problems I had with the game, but it was pretty great on the whole, next I'll be doing a stealth play through and mopping up those extra cheevs and collectibles. I missed a bunch of side quests too because I got impatient and wanted to see what happened.
