re-skinned implies a change in graphics, that's it. however, this still looks nothing like NG from a gameplay standpoint. NG is a defense-based action game. This looks offense-based, if anything, looking at the trailer. And even then, it's a trailer.

I'm not seeing the ng connection, but then you're probably just trolling.

This isn't even an action game, it's a multiplayer shooter. Not even close to the same genre, let alone gameplay mechanics. I am 100% positive that any single weapon in NG2 will have twice as much depth as the melee character in this.

I guess I have to look at it another way. Itagaki was bored of being the Godking of action games, so now he wants to show everyone how multiplayer is done.

It looks like Ninja Gaiden 2 re-skinned. It's funny that you don't see a NG connection, it's like your brain is actively refusing to see the swords, tits, and ninja shit.

according to the famitsu interview the game is 5-10% done.

Quote
What is the current development status?

Itagaki: I would say about 5 to 10%? I have just started. Things like the core game engine is done; the multiplayer matchmaking is really fun and is being finished; it is all pretty raw; more polish is still needed; I want to make it a great thing.

plus he hints that the footage shown was mulitplayer. (would makes sense giving the camera views in the trailer) in a Kotaku article

Quote
Recently, I've changed my thoughts about the general approach to development. The parts of the game that we really have to make, that only [Valhalla] can make, we'll do that. For the parts that other people can do better, we'll get help. Yes, we'll be working with THQ studios, but the multiplayer demo we showed earlier, that was all developed internally. The way programmers think, if they can do it themselves, they'll do it. You have to do everything triple-A or just not both

which is strange for Itagaki  :lol

the game was made for multiplatform from the get go (sorry maxy) and the reason was the most obvious

Quote
One of the big surprises is that the game is multiplatform for both PS3 and Xbox 360. Given Itagaki's history at Team Ninja, many had been expecting an Xbox 360 exclusive release. Asked about the selection of platforms, Itagaki said, "This way, a greater number of fans would be able to play it."

Quote
Valhalla is working on the PS3 version. In fact, Itagaki says they created a team specifically for making the game multiplatform. "If we didn't write the game engine code, it wouldn't be 'Devil's Third.' Engineers who wrote code for the PlayStation 3 CELL and RSX are also taking part." He also said that they're receiving support from THQ.

While THQ did not share release information, Itagaki hinted that the two versions would arrive simultaneously. "If you do it multiplatform, a simultaneous release becomes a requirement," said Itagaki. The reason for this, he said, is that if you don't do a simultaneous release, you get stuck in endless cycle where neither the developer nor the player ends up happy.

Didn't Valhalla just get started? Of course the game is super early in development.

as posted already he put it between 5 - 10% done.

Core engine work is complete though, just polishing needed.

from Eurogamer

Quote
Eurogamer: One of the things that characterised Ninja Gaiden was quite a severe difficulty level - is that something we can expect from this game or is it more accessible?

Tomonobu Itagaki: Compared to the time when we made that game, we've kind of developed to the point where we want to and can make games that appeal to a broader audience. It's harder to make easy-to-play and fun games than it is to make a hard-to-play and fun game. I feel that now we've compiled enough experience over these genres that we can do a good job of making a game that is both easy to get into and fun.

Along those lines, as you mentioned earlier, making the last 10 per cent of the game takes 50 per cent of the time - you're correct that we will spend a long time on the last 10 per cent of this game as well. That is one of the main reasons that I decided to work with THQ - we can do that here. Danny has been very clear on that concept - that we will only make good games.

End of an era  :'(

well he likes 3d and even has a 3d TV

Quote
Eurogamer: Cool. Could I ask that question to Mr Itagaki as well? What do you think of 3D technology?

Tomonobu Itagaki: I'm very interested in looking into 3D. We've been looking at what's available for 3D PC games, and I also have a 3D TV at home now.

he no longer cares about "superior hardware"

Quote
Eurogamer: Something you were quite famous for during the period you were developing Ninja Gaiden for Xbox 360 was your distaste for the PS3 and its complexity. Do you still feel that way or have you changed your mind?

Tomonobu Itagaki: Well you know, when I'm talking to girls, I'll say I like one more than the other, but when we're talking about hardware I really don't have much preference. When I was speaking about hardware, [it was] if I were to build the machine, maybe I would do it that way, but it's kind of an engineering approach discussion - I have no emotional involvement in the issue.

and he's friends with tecmo again

Quote
Eurogamer: Mr Itagaki, I know you're sort of solidly moved on from Tecmo these days, but I was wondering what you thought of Dead or Alive Paradise?

Tomonobu Itagaki: Tecmo gave me the game as a present, but I've not had time to play it yet. But I have a good relationship with Tecmo now - we're all friends.

why show it now when it will be, at the earliest, released holiday 2011?

seems like THQ should have kept it under wraps until TGS or next e3.

anyways now that i know it was super early multi footage i'll reserve judgment until i know more about the game.

NG2 is a flawed good game
NG DS (did he even make that?) was actually pretty good for something different
DoA2/4 were fantastic fighters

...some people like DoA Volleyball (never played any of them)
