Game's gotten so much of a 180 in the last day   :lol

The concept of epic sword battles with the enemies blocking your moves depending on where the sword comes from makes me :hyper

It doesn't help that the demonstration at the conference was awful and a lot of demonstrators on the floor play the game like monkey's. I still maintain that the general area and character/monster designs outside of Link look generic so far, based on the demo, but hey, like I said, I'm sure they'll so something more interesting next time.

Well, apparently, for power purposes for the show, Nintendo disabled the primary Wii accelerometer and it was strictly the wii motion plus at hand on the floor.  So because of this, none of the wiimotes could be recalibrated.  It'll play muuuuuch more fluidly at home.

Ya I noticed. The videos that got me on board personally, were the IGN videos. Particularly the ones by the guy playing left handed.

Link looks like a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow running around with his sword held in the air, and I still despise shield bash.  But it looks really pretty.

watched a lot of videos of this today and even while working correctly the waggle crap just looks absolutely horrific.

guess i'll just have to wait for the inevitable new 3ds zelda and pray it doesn't suck as much as PH or ST. :(

The funny thing is that at the press conference they mentioned that you no longer need to aim at the screen to aim your weapons or whatever you would conventionally use the pointer for.  Yet despite this, almost all the demos have people pointing the controller towards the screen making Link mimic that stance.  Can't blame them since pointing at the screen is how people have been playing Wii games for the past three or four years.

It still looks a bit odd.  Come to think of it, Wii Sports Resort didn't have the problem since your character held the swords kendo style and they didn't have arms.

Yeah, the pointer made sense, was intuitive and worked really well.  I guess that's why they got rid of it.

you can still use the pointer by pointing at the screen, but now you have the option to aim outside of the screen.

only terrible choice is making you pull back with the nunchuck regardless of stance

I got the impression moving the target was based fully on Wii Motion Plus around rather than using the pointer?  I thought Miyamoto said something like that in the conference.

And oh lord, we have to pull back the nunchuk now?  I just want to sit in the couch and relax, not play fucking Wii Sports: Zelda Edition.

Yeah, that's what he said. Moving the Wiimote moves the pointer, regardless of where you're actually pointing.

So this game's getting directed by one of the former Flagship studio members--creators of the Oracle games and Mimish cap.

I'm afraid SS won't top OoT, simply because the music in OoT was too damn good. It's unreal how good the music is... if people say OoT ain't the best Zelda, it's prolly cuz the music did nothing for them.

The music in OoT is pretty fucking ridiculous. The Clock Town Theme from MM is just as good as the whole soundtrack to OoT tho.

eh all this wishy washy in this thread is useless
if you think it's good you will pick it because it's going to be so awesome
if you think it sucks then you will pick it because it can't sucks right?

so ultimately no matter what you think you will pick the game and get a more precise impression anyway

That's exciting.  Minish Cap is the best Zelda since forever.
Aonuma was promoted to Producer, so hopefully this will be a bit fresher than TP, which was another OoT redux.

Stolen from GAF:

Quote
Here's a cool video interview with Aonuma.
http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/z.../video/6267042

"Link will travel back and forth between Skyloft and this other land searching for a valuable friend."

"We'll have field areas opperate as dungeons [and vise versa]."

"Maybe you'll enter a dungeon where you lose your sword and have to flee from enemies and solve puzzles."

Aonuma ends the interview saying that the border between dungeons and overworld will be blurred. He told us this before, but it never hurts to hear it again!

The stealth in Wind Waker was awful.

I also still think that WW should've been remade for the 3DS instead of OoT (which is already a perfect game).

Just my $0.02.
