All evidence points to it being Mel Gibson's voice, but that doesn't mean that the tapes haven't been altered/tampered with to put him in the worse light possible. For example, in the recordings, his girlfriend is really calm and collected. But what if, in the original, she was screaming at him and insulting him, essentially baiting him into doing the same back at her? It would certainly put the whole thing in a different light if that turned out to be the case.
