Star Trek Nemesis' director was Casino Royale's editor. Food for bait, Cohen!

Am I the only one getting really tired of seeing the tron 2 trailer in front of everything? I think I have it entirely memorized by now.

As a side note The Expendables looks comically bad.  My wife mentioned that it looks like a movie from the '90s when (i quote) "they stopped making good action movies."

If it's as good as the last Rambo I'll be happy

I was happy to see it in a theater for once.

and The Expendables, yeah, I feel like there is a certain crowd that is trying to pressure people into getting hyped.  Trailers just make it look dull.  Would rather have a shot-for-shot remake of Commando with a flabby Arnold.

I think it was mentioned earlier, but the only thing that felt cheap was the forced tension of

"if you die, you go into fucking limbo."  That just seemed like someone looking it over tapped a pen on their lip and said "ehhh it needs something else.  something that grabs you by the balls and says 'this is fucking dangerous!'   and opposed to what was said earlier, I think there was enough foreshadowing for whatshisface being trained to fight against extraction.

It wasn't simply to add tension to not die. The ending would never have been able to be a mystery without limbo. Without limbo there was no way for Leo to possibly be stuck in a dream world at the end because only limbo goes on "forever".

Nor without limbo would there be able to be a storyline of Mal and Cobb to grow old with one another and Mal to become to belief her dream world is the real world.

Without limbo two of the largest elements of the story could never have happened.

That was actually

her dad.  He and his wife, Mal's mother, were taking care of the kids while Cobb was on the run.

I imagine he could have flown back to the US while his university was on break.  It could still add to the evidence that Cobb was still stuck in dreamland, though.

I think if the kids were dressed the same way as in his dream, which was how they looked the last time he saw them, then the mystery is pretty much gone and the ending makes it clear that Cobb got stuck in limbo and never came back out.

Sorry, I meant the way it was introduced felt cheap.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Nothing is mentioned of limbo beforehand and then all of a sudden it's a huge deal and the entire story revolves around it when it felt so cheaply thrown in.

But I guess there wasn't much he could do with people complaining about the exposition and length, I'd imagine it would add considerable time.  But personally I would have preferred a 3 hour movie more fleshed out.

Well, I'm sure
spoiler (click to show/hide)
some people would still say, "bubububu maybe it wasn't a dream and they just happened to be wearing the same clothes as the last time Cobb saw them" but that seems pretty darn unlikely doesn't it?

I wish now I'd paid more attention to how the kids were dressed in the dream sequences and the final scene, but I'm really not interested in sitting through the movie again.

No, because

I'm not saying he's in a dream throughout the entire movie, like the guy who answers that question seems to think he is.  I'm just saying he never woke up from getting Saito out of limbo at the very end.

This wedding ring thing sounds like your typical 'plausible-sounding' b.s.  but I'd have to watch the movie again and look at Leo's ring finger in each scene to be sure whether that's true or not. :lol

Even if the wedding ring thing is true (which I have my doubts on), it doesn't really matter because Leo does come to term with his wife's death in the next-to-final scene of the movie, so he could very well still be dreaming even if he doesn't have his wedding ring on.

I think the definitive answer would be how his kids are dressed.  If they are dressed in the same clothes they had on during his dreams (which are the last way he remembers them looking), then it would be a pretty strong indicator that he's still stuck in limbo and never got out.  I'll have to rent it when it comes out on DVD again or something so I can take some screencaps. :lol

Why can't his dad be a creation of his dream just as much as his kids?

Here is why I feel like the end is a dream still. If it's reality then it's a perfect happy sentimental ending. Which goes against every single ending of every Nolan movie so far. It is too Spielbergy for Nolan.

He hasn't made a movie to appeal to that demo in over a decade doing gritty Scorsese stuff, Nolan mind-fuck sci-fi's...etc and is pushing 40. Yet they still won't let go. Hell by the age of those girls the old ones seem to be being replaced by new ones.  :lol

Way better. It was a 55 mil weekend based on the friday number but then it shocked by INCREASING on saturday and then again for being actually higher than the non-midnight fridays on sunday which is unheard. The wom is incredible. Best holds for a major blockbuster since that dreaded Avatar.  Pretty much all the box office folks I see are saying it will likely surpass 250 mil domestically.

Glad to see it, while it isn't the best movie ever like many elsewhere are saying its great to see an original intelligent blockbuster do well.

I have bad feeling the intense love for it will ruin it for me in the long run though.

Shutter island wasn't a think for yourself movie. Scorsese said he even changed the novel to make it more obvious than it was, he didn't want it to feel like a twist.
