Pretty damned good. Will likely be thinking about it all the way through the weekend.
Probably a lot longer than that. I am still buzzing about it, thinking of what elements were reality and dreams and so forth.

Yep. I said all the non-shia coming-of-age comedy parts bored me. Transformers 2 suffered a lot because Spielberg was completely hands off because he was off filming Tintin in New Zealand at the time. Apparently he is a lot more hands on again for the third. At least that is what that Chud dude seems to have heard.

And I remember getting mocked for not being on the OMG BAY ACTION train when it came out.   :'(

part of the reason people were hyping up Inception was because it wasn't just shallow like Transformers.  I think it was Mark Kermode that was hoping people would watch Inception to prove you don't need to make movies so dumb to find success ( :lol).

and The Godfather with transforming robots would be amazing.  Avatar proved that taking an old movies and adding CG would trick people into think it was original.

Christ, I saw the movie, re-read the thread a bit -- I can confirm Willco is consciously and willfully (SWIDT?) trolling this thread. Jerkface has probably seen it  three times already, and is busy twittering fellatio offers to Nolan.

That music YouTube is funny; I never woulda thought. Of course, that leitmotif (is that the correct term?) is identical irrespective of the sequence, where it would theoretically need to be even slower to be truly representative. Still: very clever.

Yeah, one of the things that has kept me wondering is who was hosting what at each stage, and who was supplying the content.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
The last dream is hosted by Cillian's character, but populated by Cobb's subconscious' Limbo reality he made with Moll/Mal. After kicking Ariadne and Cillian, Cobb journeys to Saito's dream somehow. Is Cillian still host? Is Cobb the host? Saito's subconscious content has to be playing. Also, in other dreams it was necessary to hook up the dreaming "equipment" to each participant, but in the Saito sequence there is nothing connecting Saito's corpse to the Limbo team of Ariadne, Cobb, and Cillian. Why does it work? I'm looking for story reasons other than it being just a dream -- clearly the in-dream electronics are a crutch, and ultimately maybe they are not ultimately needed?

-first level is the van driver, Yusuf  (stock nerd scientist from Avatar)
-second level is Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)
-third level is Eames (Tom Hardy, the guy in my avatar)

Fischer (Cillian) populated the dreams, but he wasn't the host.  Ariadne's (Ellen Page) job as architect is to design layouts for the levels and then teach them to the the dreamer.

As for limbo, it is the shared space between all the connected dreamers.  Saito was there without requiring is because he died in the dream (shot at level 1).  Normally dying in a dream would wake you up, but because they had to use strong sedatives to go three levels deep, dying meant you're mind would get lost in limbo.

Of course not! Inception only grossed a thousand more dollars per theater; hardly the big leap over a film with half the marketing budget and $50 million cheaper than Nolan's overhyped snoozefest.

Salt comes out next weekend. Jolie gonna whoop dat ass. Sorry, Nolan. Enjoy adapting Nickelodeon cartoons and shit from now on.

I won't be shocked if Salt has a better opening weekend, it was tracking higher than Inception I read on Jeff Wells blog.

Ehhhh, I just don't see Salt being some huge hit. It'll get more than $100 million, but probably not much more than that.

I hadn't even thought of it, but Nolan's best work is his original stuff.  They should drop him from Batman and let him run wild on something else.  They won't, because of money and fanboys, but it would be awesome.

How could you not have thought about that when you had Inception and Memento at the top of your Nolan list and I did? :P

It was the success of Batman that allowed him to do Inception though.

Genghis, you're not wrong, but let's be honest here–even if they are his worst films, Nolan's comic book shit is still better than 95% of other comic book shit.  I'm glad he worked on Batman, because Begins set a pretty high bar for origin stories.

I liked it as well, despite having some issues with it.  I just think Memento and Inception are better films.  Batman Begins was awful, The Prestige and Insomnia were boring as hell.

I thought Batman Begins was pretty good (better than all the Burton & Schumacher movies), and I loved The Prestige.  I agree with you about Insomnia, though.

Man, I hated Katie Holmes in BB. I mean, her performance is the single worst thing about the movie for me, easily. Even worse than the inscrutable nature of the fight scenes. Not that Maggie Gyllenhaal was much better in The Dark Knight though.  :-\

No, she has like a half-smirk out of the corner of her mouth the entire movie!

I think you mean "her entire life". She had that same smirk on her face the first time I flipped the channel onto the Dawson's Creek pilot.

She's not.  She has a "stupid face." What was that movie maybe ten years ago where the two mentally handicapped people were trying to marry and the bride's family was against it?  Katie Holmes is like a real life version of that.

The Other Sister  :-X

Hilarious movie
