Flyover country sucks unless you like looking at nature or looking at red state rural poverty (something nobody ever really likes to bring up here in the US). Even then, you have to traverse through hundreds of miles of flat cornfields and soy fields to get to anything interesting.

I'm so sorry...
It's not great but the cost of living is low enough and the brain drain ensures plenty of well paying jobs if you're college educated. I'd rather make $80,000 with ease in bumpkin country than $50,000 competing with coastfags and living in a $1,500/month tiny ass apartment.
Plus the side benefits of marrying dudes and manhandling unsuspecting tourists doesn't hurt.
