It makes a difference.  Look at 80k for example.  80K is desirable in the late 20s, so-so in the 30s and jumps back up in the 40s.  My guess is 40 yr old bachelors making 80k are mostly dating older women who just want to settle.

There's some weird noise in that chart, why are 100k 50yr old so unpopular?

Truth is, most women are TERRIBLY insecure and don't feel like they're good enough to date a rich good looking guy. But they won't date some sad insecure guy either. If you're decent and show confidence, women will eat it up. They need someone secure and stronger than they are. Show you're confident. That's all you gots to do.

It's really not something a man can fake well.

Here in Canada we don't use silly terms like "senior" or "junior"...mostly.

Law school is three years, so the usual designations aren't used.

*snip*

I agree with your advice and know that I shouldn't take rejection personally--but I still will. I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

I really don't think people understand -- by having such low self esteem being rejected in 1000X worse than it really ought to be.

Malek needs to find some self esteem in something other than a woman first.

It's all over the place when it comes to the 18-24 year olds.  Probably because those are the ages that you may be in school, so if you're making 50K a year as a recent hire in Google just a few months after getting your degree, women may be see you as more financially secure than if you're making 60k a year at a job with less upward mobility.  I don't know, apparently I can only make 30k, 40k, or 100k+ a year to be good at online dating (which I've never tried) so I don't trust this graph.

Wrong. You will AT FIRST. Everyone does. But the more you go out there, the more you'll see you'll be able to get women interested in you and rejection really won't be a big deal. Don't just sit around being the awkward kid at the back of the bus.

I do not seem to be finding this to be the case for me.

Over the past year and a bit since breaking up with my ex, I have gotten progressively more frustrated and dejected the more I have put myself out there.  This time last year, I was all optimistic and motivated and eager to try my hand at dating again.  The near-steady stream of rejection, however, has not built my confidence, but rather the opposite.  I'm back in a position with having no prospects, and no motivation to go out and do anything to change it, and no idea of how to get women interested in me if I did just wander alone into a bar/library/coffee shop.  Not meeting anyone through friends, because it's always the same group of people when I hang out with my friends, and none of them have shown any inclination to play wingman or matchmaker, in spite of paying lip service to the idea.

Boogie, would you be adverse to the idea of going gay? We would make a great team, both romantically and professionally. I would cry; you would hold me. You would capture criminals; I would set them free. You would taser Polacks lost in an airport; I would sue the RCMP.

Malek, I can't believe you left out this part.  To no one's surprise:

"REALITY: 80% of self-identified bisexuals are only interested in one gender.

But when we looked into messaging trends by sexuality, we were very surprised at what we found. People who describe themselves as bisexual overwhelmingly message either one sex or the other, not both as you might expect. Site-wide, here's how it breaks out:

This suggests that bisexuality is often either a hedge for gay people or a label adopted by straights to appear more sexually adventurous to their (straight) matches. "

You're doing something wrong then. You're a cop, you're built like a mother fucker and you're not a bad looking guy. What do you me you get rejected? Are you approaching women at bars?

It's fun being such an outlier.  :-\

I don't actually approach many women at bars, since women are always in groups, and if I'm with others, they don't seem to be eager to try and engage women.  Hard to penetrate (pun intended  :teehee) the collective protection of the female group dynamic alone.  The best I can usually do is a comment or question or two, but at the point when the interaction will die if she doesn't pick up some of the slack of being involved and interested.....it just dies, and I'm left to awkwardly turn back to my friends.  If I came with friends.

I notice every thread Boogie posts in about dating, people are always asking the same questions.  Not that there is anything wrong with that but it is a trend I noticed.

I'm not sure what it could be either.  I'm not a good looking guy at all but I have a girlfriend.  It took some time before she found out what I made and I'm only 5'11".  I will say that dating has become much tougher out of school.  I imagine it will get progressively more challenging until the 30s when the first round of divorcees hit the scene.  I assume ???

i'm barely clearing 5ft 6 but i've not been single for any significant period of time since i was 14 and i'm still skint/ugly/short in the wider scheme of things.

I really don't think women give as much of a shit about physical attributes as men seem to think they do.
