I personally did not like the new HP line as I found the color very washy during fast motion. I eventually went with the Samsung P2450. There is a newer model P2450H thats available at Amazon. Its super fast at 2ms and its got a very nice contrast ratio of 70k. The only draw back is that it only has one HDMI port. But it includes a VGA and DVI port too.

Hmm, I'll keep that in mind, but I'm pretty set on these new HP monitors at the moment. Seems like most monitors only have one HDMI port, but that's fine; I've got an HDMI selector.
I got a new monitor. Cheap ass 19" Asus for 100 euros/100 bucks. It's pretty much as good as my 22" inch HP monitor that I got years ago. IMO I don't see the use in getting something more expensive. Not until the technology improves by a lot. CRT is still better IMO, but those monitors are too huge and use way too much power.
Well, there you go-- start spending more money, and you get better black levels, color, backlighting, and the like. The cheaper monitors are all TN Panels. If you spend more you get different (better) types of monitors.
The question is that matters to you. If I were a graphic designer, I'd want something of a much higher quality, but I'm not. These cheaper monitors work great for me. The only reason I am even getting a new one is for console gaming purposes.
And now that we're on the subject of electronics... what's up with all this black bullshit? All of this shit is black with a shiny finish. WTF. You can easily see dust and fingerprints. I really wanted a white monitor and case but decided that I had to go black anyway. The options are extremely limited if you want a white monitor, case and kb/m.
B-b-b-b-but it's SHINY!
It's fine to me. I don't have fingerprints all over my monitor and I clean it often. Don't see what the big deal is.
I don't think I've even seen a white monitor for sale recently, come to think of it. Everything is black. There are those Samsung "touch of color" monitors, which are really just black with a color band around the edges, lol.
Ended up going black and silver this PC go-round anyway-- my netbook is black/silver, speakers are too, new keyboard/mouse are black/silver, monitor is as well, G-Drive is silver, USB hubs are mostly silver, external DVD+-RW is black/silver, and the desk I just recentlly got is black metal with tempered black glass. My iPhone's the same color scheme too...
