it gets laggy, and scrolling down a page in just about any browser leaves that blank/checkerboard pattern for a second

it's not a problem now but i can see it becoming one once we get iOS 4.1

maybe the jailbreak is better optimized, and maybe ipad can handle it better, but i definitely noticed a good bit of sluggishness on my ipod touch after i upgraded to iOS4

oh, i get the checkerboard scroll thing, but that doesn't bug me much -- that's just safari. i'm not sure its ram but a rendering engine/perf flaw with safari?

Meh conference. I got an iPhone 4, so the Touches are merely gimped versions of the 4, weaker camera and TN screen as opposed to the IPS panel of the iPhone 4. I really wanted more from the Apple TV, such running a proper iOS with access to the App store and compatibility with the new track pad.

Engadget mentioned the viewing angles weren't as good as the iPhone 4s. Many are guessing it's not an IPS panel based on hands on comparisons. Unlike the iPhones, which is heavily subsidized by the telecos, Apple needs to make a profit with the Touches, so cheaper components are necessary.

Apple has also been touting IPS screens--iPad, iMacs, Apple Displays, and iPhones, but this was missing in their marketing materials for the new Touches.

That's a big letdown since the iPhone 4 has the greatest screen in the entire portable consumer market. Would've loved to see that transfer over to their iPod Touch line.

The resolution is the still same, though. Retina Display and all. Viewing angles should not be such a big problem since it's a very personal device.

I love OSX and Macbooks, but iOS and Apples regular consumer level software I've found pretty underwhelming so far, Final Cut Pro is great though (hear Logic is too) and iPad is appealing to me but I don't buy 1st gen Apple products and by the sounds of it, it has iOS4 problems.

Yeah I think the software is cooler it's had multitasking since inception and it's UI is really nice. Nicer than iOS but that's my opinion. i haven't used a new iPhone yet though, this was based on my impressions of iOS using iOS pre multi tasking. I needa try out these new fangled iPhones, they're still not out here though and I dunno anybody with iOS4 on their shit yet.

My music library is over 100 gigs and with the extra space it uses for whatever it needs it for, my 120gb Zune is damn near filled. Capacity is the number one thing keeping me from updating my media device.

HD media players are dead. Mostly for two reasons: Flash memory is getting cheaper--the high end is still pricey, however, and it has no moving parts, so flash based players are sturdier than HD based ones. Movement and hard drives are not a good combination.

That's a lot of music, Wraith2x! My library is like 8 gigs, but I'm not a big music guy.

Do you travel a lot Wrath? I have ~70 gigs of music but I can't think of a time I'd want to have it all on an MP3 player at once unless I was travelling and didn't have a computer. There are MP3 players > 200gb like the Archos 5

My music library is just under 30gigs. But the stuff I'd want to take with me is just 5gigs so I just sync that to my 32gig iPhone.
