YAY!

I don't really care if they nerf the game a bunch, but I am not anxious to face the fruit of those exploits.

Still, I suspect that you'll get a converted save, once you apply the patch. That means you can play without the patch for awhile, then make a one-way trip with the exploit character back into everyone else's playground, so to speak.

Ok, finished Lost Izalith. While the other areas that people have been complaining about I found generally inoffensive (blight town, crystal cave, tomb of giants), but Lost Izalith was absolutely painful. I have photophobia and could barely see anything at all in the lava area, tweaking the brightness didn't dampen the lava, just everything else. Thankfully I had one of my flatmates be my co-pilot rally style so she told me where to run to get to the little cylinder that went up into non-lava land.

Also, boss was lulzy as all hell. after dying on smacking his left orb, I just quit/reloaded after smacking his right one so I didn't have to deal with repositioning etc. the jump felt obvious to me, but maybe I've been exposed to too much info prior to playing that part.

At Nito now. finally figured out you can kindle bonfires to make them warpable.  :omg

you kindle a bum-ass bonfire, you can warp to it. That's what the word on the street is, and I think it's correct

Not mentioned in the wiki. now I'm thinking I goofed.

I kindled at least 10, and I can't warp to any of them. :maf

The Rite allows you to kindle 2 more times for a total of 20 flasks, but you always had the ability to kindle bonfires once (10 flasks).

Please tell me you knew this or else I'll put you on ignore.

I have one Kindled bonfire in almost every area.

when I got stuck on something I didn't waste many bottles on the way there to try again, five seemed like a nice amount. plus you sometimes get ten (if there is a firekeeper I think?). I figured if you had a hard time you were supposed to invest in some healing miracles or something. Think there is a ring that slowly regenerates life too.

That, plus you get +1 Flask whenever you session buddies were kindling the last bonfire you rested at, but you never gave back. Kinda like scumbag Steve.

Last boss was a pussy, beat him 2nd try.

Onto NG+ plus now, printed me out some checklists for Pyromancies, Miracles and Weapons. I'm well on the road to 1000  :D

parrying in this game seems off. If I remember correctly you couldn't parry a two-handed weapon in Demon Souls, shit's all fair game here. and it gets super annoying when someone is just fishing for a parry (even enemy AI does this some times!) and you end up having a staring contest while dancing in circles.

I found Blight town really confusing until I got down to the bottom. Down in the swamp it's real easy to figure where you wanna go. but the stilted shanty town is kinda shit.

Between the framerate, the head-biters coupled with the lock-on's UTTER INABILITY to deal with height prioritization, and no clear path, it's what culminated in Blighttown becoming my Breaktown.

It's a rough spot, to be sure.

The way through the shanty town cliff area in Blight Town is down. About all there is to it, though it's not easy. Once you're in the swamp at the bottom there's a bonfire in an alcove if you keep going along the wall to your right.

lol I have a couple of those helms myself now.

I need to finish off the achievements in this damn game so it will stop controlling my life. I'm probably just gonna dupe souls so I can get to 50 Faith to join that dumb Sunlight Covenant, but I will save that until last. I cant get the requirement lowered either becuase whenever I try to co-op it results in a network error or something. I can just never join anyone elses game. I'm well on track to getting all pyromancies and weapons and things.

Finished my first playthrough. Loved it, missed a fair few achievements but not hard to get 'em in NG+. Guess I liked it more than Demon's Souls, but I really hope they patch it for 360 soon, need to get into the online more, in Demon's on my first run I was regularly co-oping throughout my first game and fighting invaders, the online implementation for all it's thought and complexity with covenants and the various items for invasion and co-op, just isn't as good as the simplicity of Demon's Souls.

Gonna smash NG+ now grab those cheevs and lend it to a friend, I'm definitely regretting not getting the Master Key, no shortcuts for me and I never did bother figuring out what to do with the pendant. Think I was supposed to give it to Snuggly. Do I have to get the True Greatsword of Artorias and the Cursed Greatsword of Artorias to get the rare weapons cheev? That's gonna mean playing through till NG++ before taking a break if that's the case. Getting Skyrim on Friday so hoping to put this away with 1k for a while.

I was gonna get all miracles with my current character, but it's already gonna require me to do heaps of shit in NG++ and grind etc., I figure starting a new guy will be more fun.

Gonna get Master Key and get Astora's Sword straight away to make the going easy. I'm gonna try and co-op as much as I can too. Hopefully now that I understand how everything works I'll have more luck at low levels.

Just got all Pyromancies, working on my weapon collection now. Just cut off Priscilla's Tail :hyper

Yeah, I remember when I was a lower level and seeing co-op signs all over the place and just clicking away with it failing everytime  :( Co-op only worked once for me, that was before the Gargoyles. Next time I have the chance I'll check the net settings here are all good. I never have problems with other online games though so....

starting a new guy is real fun now that I know the game inside out. Currently idling by the gargoyles waiting to be summoned.....

Astora's Sword is hot shit at low levels. Slicing up baddies real good and I dont even need Drake Sword. I'll probably still get it though as my Cleric is gonna be swinging big clubs and shit and I'm gonna working on STR.

Maybe it's the wrong time of day to get summoned or something. I'm kinda bummed the only multiplayer feature I've actually used in the game is message leaving

Tried this for the first time in two weeks today. Areas I used to cruise through without a scratch, I was taking hits. My timing is off -- player skill failure. Felt good to kick a few Undead into a stunned state, follow up with the Drake Sword. I leveled up once, then put it away. I can't get back into this with Saints Row 3 coming next week.

Sure felt good to wander around for a bit, though!

I left Demon's Ruin/Izalith for last. And yes, that part was a bitch.

Do the Four Kings (New Londo Ruins) and Seath (Duke's Archive) first if you haven't yet.

The quickest shortcut out of there is accessible if you [/i]push a bit further[/i] and beat the next boss. You'll find an elevator that takes you back to Quelaag's Lair, otherwise you'll have to backtrack.

you cant get anywhere in the catacombs before you've done Anor Londo, you also cant get into Duke's Archives until you've done Anor Londo also.

If you have rung both bells the next step is Sen's Fortress (the big gate that opens by the undead parish). That leads to Anor Londo

On my last effort I did take half his life from parrying him and waiting for him to get up and parrying him again and again. But then I got cocky/bored and started forward rolling through his attacks and jump attacking :P

I'm not super confident in my parrying though, dunno if I can successfully loop the entire fight (if that is possible). might try it next time.

If you don't like parrying, Gwyn is also pretty easy with a quick thrusting weapon, like a fully upgraded crystal halbred, which gives you enough space to not risk getting caught with his grab attack, and is quick enough so that you can put your shield up between attacks.
