Didn't even know Move came out until a couple of days ago.  And I don't care.  The only thing I have any interest in would be using the PS3 dildo to play RE5 Gold, but I'll pass for the $80 or $100 or however much it costs to get the dildo set and eyetoy.  Besides, I've already wasted enough money on failed Sony products since I recently bought a PSP Go.

I posted impressions in the random talk thread!  In short it's a better Wii.  If you don't like the Wii, then, uh...at least for PS3 sports, there is less waggling and wrist movements.  Ping pong feels like ping pong and it really does track the position of it in the room.  There are no real video games for it yet, so you aren't losing out on much unless you love the sports simulators.  The hardware itself is nice, but the battery life and charging time sucks (internal battery, so you can't swap) and the glowing ball gets annoying.

Originally I was planning to hold off until there were more games, but the kmart deal was good, so I decided to pick it up.  Haven't tried the navigation sub nunchuck controller and I don't think any games use it yet.

For what it's worth, if you do like the sports simulator stuff, ping pong is really good.  Unlike the Wii, you really do need to do full motions on the higher difficulties; if a ball is coming to the left, you literally need to either jump to the left in real life, or do a back hand shot to reach it.  If you want, you can even walk closer to the TV and play the net.

best news from the entire experience: the new time crisis lets you play with the PS Move or Guncon3.  I can finally play something othe than TC4 with my dusty GC3 :rock

Yeah, well I mean that's the thing. The Wii has been out for years and sold like a billion units and the games still suck. Why would developers suddenly start making great games for the Playstation Move, which even if it's successful, is still only going to sell a fraction of the units that the Wii has. And I was there at Best Buy the day that Move came out, and they had about 7 bundles, and there didn't appear to be any great rush to buy them.

yeah, the thing will probably bomb hard.  As for why developers might make projects on it, I don't think they will.  If they need a reason, the fact that it actually works is one.  But even Motion Plus is a huge improvement over the regular shitty wii remote and there are like four games that support it (not including zelda).  Also, the best Wii games don't really use motion controls in a significant way.  That includes the two Mario Galaxy games.

The only way Move could help out a piece of shit like Heavy Rain is if there was an eject button on the wand that would shoot the disc out of your PS3 smashing it into pieces against the wall.

See that right there should be a selling point. If someone does motion controls right - and I don't think the Wii has done that yet, though motion plus is a step in the right direction - then they will win the console wars.

What about everyone who said the stupid controller movements were there to increase the tension in the game by fumbling around? :smug

Personally I think Heavy Rain would be appalling with waggle.

I don't think that's true at all. The problem is that the public is trained to think that Wii motion controls are right, and that if Move doesn't work the same way they'll dismiss it as being inferior.

That's my first time seeing the Reel 2 Reel video. Was surprised when I learned that it was Erick Morillo who was responsible for that song. Don't really care about PS Move otherwise, Raizing Storm is a fucking BLAST in the arcades though, that's all I'm really interested in. Pointer functionality can be useful (especially for gun games/rail shooters), but I'm just not a fan of motion controls.

This is probably the only Move game that would get me to drop $100 (Razing Storm + Move & Camera). Honestly tho, I'd really prefer a Guncon controller.
I just hope that Sega makes a Move-enabled PS3 port of House of the Dead 4, that's all. Since HOTD 2 & 3 Returns sold me on a Wii...  :-*

I think its a similar situation with the ipod. Lots of manufacturers make better mp3 players, but the ipod is a know quantity that is a comfortable decisions. Same for wii and motion controlled gaming. Also after playing with the move, I don't think  super accurate high fidelity motion controls are a good selling point. I played table tennis on the 'silver' difficulty and couldn't score a point against the AI, mostly because heavy or soft, my swings kept sending the ball out of bounds.  I'm willing to guess the fast majority of consumers aren't going to 'appreciate' the learning curve and would rather have something:

Cheaper
More accessible

Kinda, again,  how apple sells alot of stuff on the premise of being intuitive and accessible, if not 'open' and customisable.

There's also the fact the Move is named liked a derivative product and looks like a tacky derivative product with the lolipop aesthetics and has a derivative software catalouge.  No more appealing than those knockoff Wii systems you see preloaded with knockoff wii sports clones.

yeah, the people who bought the Wii, as in, not the same people that championed the Gamecube and N64 and weren't alive before the N64, don't care about higher fidelity of motion controls.  There are really only two types of games that sell on the Wii: 1) Nintendo games 2) broken ass waggle party games.  The Nintendo games sell because it is Nintendo.  I mean, NSMB Wii has the controller side ways and rarely uses waggle (thank goodness); the existing PS3 sixaxis is capable of doing everything the wii remote sideways could do.  Then there is Just Dance that just gives people a reason to jump around and act assy.  Just Dance 2 as software barely works.  Third party 'games' don't sell; the only 'game-game' that used motion plus, Red Steel 2, didn't sell.

The Move seems like it is trying to grab the Just Dance people and the people who play video games that didn't buy into the Wii.  If anything, Kinect is perfect for the Just Dance people.  Among the three consoles, the biggest strength of the Move is with the games that fail the hardest on the Wii.  So unless people who have been playing and enjoying normal video game suddenly want to wave around stick with a glowing ball, they're pretty much fucked.

At least in America.  Apparently Europeans might be into this stuff because of singstar and buzz and whatever.  I don't know.

While I don't want it or Dance Central the Kinnect is looking like a smarter idea from a consumer perspective. Very simple "games". Not a lot of equipment and controllers. And I agree. Dance Central is the closest thing on either the move or Kinnect that looks like it has some mainstream appeal. If Microsoft was smart they would market the hell out of that title.

Anyone who wants waggle owns, owned at one point, or intends to own a Wii.  The Move is merely a "me too" product that came out four years after the original.

Which is why I thought it was sent out to die.  Nothing really compelling for it and the half assed Wii Sports clones are just going through the motions.  I expect it to be treated like the PSP Go: marketed briefly and then quickly forgotten.

I'm halfway tempted to get a Move because it might go for a lot of money down the road when people like to pay lots of money for obscure, near worthless gaming accessories (like the ROB).

Edit: PSP Go, not just the PSP

I'm banking on that after a few times getting played, they will be relegated to closets and boxes in the homes of the few people that bother to buy it.  Then a year or two later, when moving or spring cleaning and discovering their old Move, they will assume it was some toy gun that an obnoxious nephew left behind, tossing it in the trash.

yeah, the people who bought the Wii, as in, not the same people that championed the Gamecube and N64 and weren't alive before the N64, don't care about higher fidelity of motion controls.

Besides the fact that theres already two killer apps for it? Heavy Rain and Sports Champions?

If you guys think thats whats going to happen to the move, i'd love to hear your "fair and unbiased" views on why Kinect is going to be this amazing super stopper thing.  :lol

If Heavy Rain and Sports Champions are the killer apps for it, Move never stood a chance.

Who around here has ever been excited about Kinect?  No one.  The sooner that piece of crap fails the better.

But Linkzg is right. The only thing Kinect has going for it is that's it's actually different from Move and Wii which are more like 1:1 to the average layman and that may be just enough to trick a grandma or two into buying that fucking overpriced webcam.

I haven't seen a single piece of compelling software revealed for the move. When there are japanese devs announcing like a dozen gritty action games for the kinect instead of your hdwagglewand something is wrong.

*I personally think Microsoft is moneyhatting everything at this point. Some of the niche japanese releases on the 360 make no damn sense with the ps3 doing tons better in japan.
