Reading lamp. My wife and I just bought SIX LAMPS earlier this year after getting married, I have no use for this nor can I return it, as it was ordered via catalog... my grandpa has never bought me anything I've ever liked or even found useful. The man should not be allowed to shop for anything ever. My grandma got my wife some really awesome David Sedaris and Dan Savage books that she wanted, so I'll enjoy them.

We're flying out to Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, where we'll do Christmas with my mother-in-law and father-in law and my wife's sister and brother-in-law. Couple more things to open, and my in-laws always get me cool stuff.

I'm an Ender whore.

I love all the books in the series, from beginning to end. The Ender's Shadow series is just as fantastic. They're the only books I've ever been able to read that really draw me into their story completely.

And about the Shadow books: I've either since forgotten since reading Ender's Shadow, or it wasn't explicitly mentioned, but I never got the impression

that Bean was being trained to be the real Ender. Bean, as the stories progress, ends up becoming a major player in Earth's military/government/political affairs, but he doesn't do anything else with the buggers.

My grandma (whom I wasn't expecting anything from) got me a pack of socks, a Schick Quatro razor and a Nautica shirt. I'm tempted to return the shirt lolz

I got clothes, a Beerfest DVD, and so many gift cards that I can't close my damn wallet! I didn't think I was that hard to buy for. Ironically the most useful/fun gift I got today was the copy of Cooking Mama cloudwalking sent to me as my Secret Santa over on GAF.

Disposable White Guy and I watched it Christmas Eve (it was a gift from him, no less) while drinking beer. It's worth seeing, while drinking beer. Definitely funnier than Club Dread but not as funny as Super Troopers. There are some great bits, though. I wish the actual Beerfest competition took center stage.

I watched Pirates 2 on DVD the other day, for the first time since my theatrical experience. I had a great time with it in theatres, but watching it again on DVD, in a more critical/intimate setting, the flaws just shot right out at me. I think the scope and excitement of the theatrical spectacle blinded many, including myself. Kudos to Disney for pulling the wool over my eyes.

I dont HATE Pirates 2 by any means, but I cant understand how I rated it so highly when it came out. I would rate Pirates a 5/10 (I DO hate this one) and Pirates 2 a 7/10.

Fucking awsome book. I love "What If?" stories like this and Fatherland. Bought it at the airport yesterday and read the whole thing on the flight from Seattle to Minneapolis to Omaha.

I really hope that whoever turns this into a film resists the temptation to make it an action flick, and stays true to the format of the book.
